Carpentry and Tinkering Should Be Able To Repair Items At Same Success Rate As Other Trade Skills

Why can't tinkering and carpentry repair items at the same 'legendary' success rate as other crafting skills? Of course we can't get over 100 on these skills but there should be SOMETHING we can do to get the same repair rates. I mean, as fun as it is failing 10 times repairing a ring or stone armor and 100% success rate repairing smithing items, this doesn't make any sense or balance sense and we should be able to repair carpentry and tinkering items at the same success rate as other trade skills.

There are the Master Crafting Talismans - BOD rewards.

• Crafting Failure Protection Talisman •Prevents loss of materials on failure•Available with additional crafting related properties•Consumes charges when successfully prevents material loss

The Tinkering one is especially useful I believe, as it can repair Legendary Clean jewellery without taking a durability loss.

Agree 100%.

I get substantial failed repairs on my imbued bracelets and rings. These were made from very expensive and hard to get clean jewels. It is used for my sampire, so it has very high wear rate.

This is a necessity.

The description reads : " • Crafting Failure Protection Talisman •Prevents loss of materials on failure•Available with additional crafting related properties•Consumes charges when successfully prevents material loss"

I do not see it saying that the Tinker Talisman prevents a durability loss on the item....

Interesting if true

I have all 30 30 Talismans.  They still fail and still cost 1 per try.  If you wait for 0 there is a higher fail rate IMO.

I've noticed that too, the lower you let it get, the more you seem to fail.   Repair often, seems to be the better credo to go by.

Just an opinion...

I would be surprised if the repair chance formula incorporated the remaining durability into the formula. I’ve never heard of this being the case. It’s quite a tough one to test as mass quantities of pieces with 0 durability are difficult to obtain on any shard (even test).
The only dev who would know is Bleak but i wouldn’t bother tagging him, he’s prob got enough on his plate without having to disprove superstitious crafters.

i think its fine.  armor and jewels werent meant to last forever.

i guess id be ok with better repair chance, but only if max durability were reduced overall to say 100 or 150.

i usually repair jewels at around 40 durability and success chance seems ok but i do know theres always risk of bad rng like anything else in uo.

what i do have a problem with is items that cant be repaired at all.  like the vvv epaullettes.  this doesnt make sense as you can repair many other vvv items.

I think I understood it wrong, or phrased it wrong.

You lose durability on a repair fail. There are times you don't lose durability on a successful repair? That's how I remembered it. If you use the Master Crafting talisman with crafting failure protection, you get a successful repair, with a possible no dura loss? In my mind, because it was a 100% success chance, you didn't get dura loss.

And yeah, I'm a superstitious crafter. 🙂

It's been my experience you only lose 1 pt of durability on a successful repair, which makes sense, otherwise it's free repairs for life.

The vvv epaulettes are a taboo subject.

When one of the devs makes an incorrect statement that they’re working as intended. Then despite all logic to explain they’re not, rather than admit error, just stick to the guns, yeah this way they don’t look stupid...

if thats the case they should just be removed entirely.  they are utterly useless.  kinda like a built in scam.  i know i felt scammed when i spent points on these, used for a few hours and then had to re-build my entire suit when i realized they couldnt be repaired.

also a waste of GM time.  i paged a GM because because i was sure mine were bugged.  im sure many others have done the same.

yes totally useless item. will last around 150 times shorter than any other ANTIQUE VvV item. And yes a bit of a scam as it doesn't display "cannot be repaired" on description also, you're preaching to the converted.
