battle against the putrifier

Hi everyone,

I've been going up against The Putrifier with my double axe sampire, and honestly, I'm having a hard time doing it 1v1.

Between the AoE damage and constant pressure, I'm struggling to stay alive even with decent gear and solid leeching.

Here's my current template:

• Anatomy 120 / Resisting Spells 120

• Swordsmanship 120

• Tactics 120

• Parry 120

• Bushido 120

• Necromancy 100

• Chivalry 80

How are other sampires handling The Putrifier?
Any advice on weapons, tactics, or template tweaks?

I'd really appreciate any tips — I want to push this build as far as it can go, but the Putrifier is really testing me

That's actually pretty impressive you have +180 skill points to get to 900 skill; the skills themselves shouldn't be an issue but I'd be curious to see your suit (since you say it's "decent" and not elite) to see what the stats/resist are given how much skill you have added (typically this means sacrificing something).

Few questions:
What is your HP (should be as close to 150hp as possible)?
What is your Stam/SSI (are you past the max swing speed)?
What is your DCH/HCI?
Do you have refinements on your suit (if not you should)? (I'm assuming you are all 70's)
What axe are you using? --> Should be energy and use onslaught to further lower its resist
Are you using double demon slayer (tali/axe)?
Do you have HLD/HLA somewhere on your weapon/suit?
Are you using a armored swampy (or paroxy)?

It's been a while since I've fought a putrifier (I might have been using my bard as support) but typical tactic against most single targets with a sampire is to make sure your suit is all maxed out so you are swinging at 1.25 and hitting as many times as possible while getting hit less. You have the max damage part down it looks like so the other part will be to either add some HLA to your weapon to decrease getting hit while maintaining the max swing speed to keep hitting. With your max bushido/parry you can also hit evade if you get around half HP to evade most of the incoming damage and even pop a confidence to boost HP regen.

I share my experience and information in case you find it helpful.

Following your post I was curious and wanted to do a 1vs1 duel with that creature.

The summary of the fight was:

Very heavy, between the enemies that united to annoy and that sometimes I had to move away because otherwise it would kill me and more and more enemies that unite, I list it as one of the heaviest enemies and nightmares I've done in a solo combat.

This creature in the past I have done it when I was doing Chief Paroxysmus and this creature did it with my tamer-bardo because I applied discord and cast cu sidhe on it, and at the same time attacked it with my Shampire.

This time, it was completely 1vs1 solo, no discord.

@mis - Thanks for the info! I'd suggest that you use a 100% energy double axe as well. Looks like you honored before fighting so the double demon slayer wasn't needed but if you could take off that 45 DI from your axe and swap some hit lightning it would make things even easier. Using onslaught helps to get bigger damage and thus more leech life and the lightning would also hit again the lowered energy resist. 

One additional thing would be to use refinements to bump up you physical resist to 75 as well since the putrifier does 50% Phys and 50% Poison, and spells are a mix and match I'd bump up the fire resist to 75 as well.

Just popped into the game to try my luck against the putrifier... used the 100% energy axe with hit lightning and 50% HLA (and demon slayer cameo). The first one I killed wasn't too bad when I was able to lure him away from the poison elements. I wanted to kill a second one just to confirm the first one wasn't a fluke... it was tougher because I tried to whirlwind the spawn that was coming up but that wasn't leeching enough so I had to run. Assuming you can get into a clear spot though my previous tactic of honoring then onslaught then double strike worked pretty well; especially once I got a few consecutive hits and the damage was bumped up each hit.

Thanks for the info, I knew all that, but since I use consecrate weapon, it attacks directly to the lowest resistance, so I don't need it to be to a specific damage type.

Regarding the DI thing, if I remove it I would lose the 100% DI bonus, as my additional pieces of equipment don't do that cap.

So for the setup I have, I must leave it at that.

But to say that I have weapons with lightning, fireball, etc... instead of HLA that I use for other combats.

In pvp I usually remove DI with Whetstone of Enervation, just like there if you are interested in a specific type of damage, like poison or fire, in pvm if the character has chivalry or uses weapons with armor ignore, you don't really need all that (a specific type of damage).

(One of several specific weapons I use for specific pvp type situations when there are a lot of enemies together. As can be seen, it is suppressed DI, as it is a support weapon, not for massive damage.)
