Info on the Classic Client Upgrade

I'm seeing mention of a big classic client upgrade, but can't find any details. Is there a kind soul to point me to them, if they exist? Very curious. I'm one of those people who thinks it in fact should get a massive update, be modernized, as I hate the 3D version.

They're making some changes on the backend so that the classic client is buildable in modern tooling, which should let them roll out updates much easier. It sounds like the first big update will be support for higher resolutions. In an interview with Epic Lute Gaming, Kyronix mentioned that they would explore further quality of life updates from there.

Oh, thank you. Sounds good as a basis.

A larger game-window for higher-resolution displays, and also I believe 60fps (similar to the ClassicUO web client).

Then they are going to work on quality-of-life updates.

I actually don't seem to like the higher FPS, it gives that icy unsynced feel to it. But yeah, higher resolutions and lots of "duh" QoL updates would be great. Don't care for the ClassicUO Web client. Just want an awesome updated native classic client.

Higher fps does help make the game look smoother. Agreed with InLor that a native client with some QoL, higher resolution and FPS is all good news.

Yup yup, Devs have been over delivering my expectations for a long while now. Kudos to them 🙂

When I need to login with my kid's account on the same computer and use the CC, it's jarring.  I have faith that an upgraded CC with higher FPS will win you over.

Yall should try Classic UO in App mode.  It has the speed, which I also did not like/use, and they have done MANY updates in the last few months.

The devs must be working with them on the art files because you could see the Clydesdales when they cane out and now they are not an invisible horse when mounted.

Many of you are going to be disappointed with the updates to CC, if you are expecting automation.

I don't believe anyone really wants automations.

  I won't be... in fact.

I hope to not be disappointed after the CC update, when nothing stops people from using the illegal clients they're using now.   If there's still no action taken against those players violating the ToS at that point?   I might actually call it quits, cause if it doesn't happen then, it isn't going to happen.

If they are moving the CC to modern dev tools (I would love to know what they have been using), it may allow for them to do more in terms of combatting those abusing the ToS.  If the CC and EC are using the same dev tools, it may also make things easier. At the least, it simplifies Bleak's life.

First of all, they do take action. How do I know? I have had accounts that were permanently banned.

Second of all, I agree with the fact that some action should be taken on a case by case basis.

That being said, if they stop some automation without first releasing a compatible client then they will lose me and many others. As I mentioned previously, I have a minor disability. Try collecting BoDs on 40 characters, and sorting 500+ BoD click by click everyday.

If they stop me from running UO on the second screen with a bit of automation then they will lose me and many others. I understand when people are using full on bots on PvP that is frustrating. I think some middle ground can be found.

Unfortunately this will be the case.  The new CC may do what this poster wants.

I have small wants.  Auto door open, dbl click to grab an object from a corpse or other container, put those items in the container I choose, have templates that I can access across accounts.   CUO does those things and much more.

Many others want full automation.

I'm hoping some AI tools will accelerate the development

Classic UO in web or app does not work for everybody.  Maybe they should fix EC and CC to be more user friendly or just let us use the full version of Classic UO.

Read my Signature.  We have what we have and you have to make due.

I use a PC when playing games. Classic UO works just fine.  Like I said they have made many updates recently.  It is ready for Pub 120.  You can see all the items, spells, everything.
They are not going to allow us to use the full version because at this time the devs do not want automation.

We will see what they do with the Classic Client upgrade and then choose which client we use personally.

It does.  CAH has an article on ClassicUO web client, and they have a .GIF of 60fps, as well as resizable windows. Basically a preview of the CC changes that are coming.

I'm honestly not even sure why they are doing a CC upgrade. With the EC, CC, and CUO web, that should be enough, especially if it means breaking 3rd party tools (legit) for the CC with this upgrade. Not 100% sure about this last part obviously but they need to be careful of that. Also, the CC crashes enough as it is at ToT events and with bosses that push out/pull in especially, so if we bump it to 60fps+ it's going to be an even more unstable client. They should focus more on adding QOL features, client stability, bug fixes, many I have outlined before and am happy to do again. @Kyronix

A lot of people won’t run a third-party web client, but regardless, the CC should have been moved to modern dev tools a long time ago.  In theory it shouldn’t break legitimate third party tools, but if it does, well, it still needs to be using modern tools for a lot of reasons, first and foremost making things much easier for the devs, but also for security and stability going forward. Using old software dev tools (somebody joked about Borland Turbo C earlier but it’s not that ancient) is not good in the long run.

The ClassicUO web client seems to handle everything just fine at 60fps with a resizable window.

That is nice that Classic UO works fine for you buts does NOT work fine for others but you go right ahead and keep waiving your pom-poms.  I have posted here and on Discord and not ONE suggestion on what to even try, what a friggen joke.  Just like the old KR Client.  A friggen piece of shit.

To  the best of my knowledge you do not need this information to log into UO with an approved client, you simply start up the program and choose your shard from the list.
