My end game Sampire

I wanted to share my modern "end game" Sampire that I have created with new items from the event. It's is my favorite template to play with and I spent a lot of time tweaking and updating it. Love messing around when new items appear. I always try to build best possible setups regardless of the cost. The goal is of course to put as much as it possible and make it as variable as possible.

Version 2024

Highlights:

1) 150 Hit Points, 196 Stamina, 100 Mana.

2) Use Super Slayers from Weapons + Super Slayers from Talismans (Enchantress' Cameo Set). This allows mixing slayer types or stack two of them (to achieve max Damage Modifier without Honor / Enemy Of One). Super Slayer does stack together.

3) Weapons:

Double Axe Super Slayer set with 100% Elemental Damage, Max possible HML, HLL, HSL, Hit Area Spell (use Hit Fire Area with Fire weapon, Cold with Cold etc.) Slayer property does affect Hit Area Spell so you do a lot of damage with this spell, although it only hits surrounding mobs not the one you are targeting.

Bladed Staff Super Slayer set with 100% Elemental Damage (do not need to be Elemental!), Max possible HML, HLL, HSL, Hit Lower Attack.

- A few more specific weapons like Bladed Staff with HML, HLL, HSL, Hit Lighting or Double Axe with HML, HLL, HSL, Spell Channgeling.

4) 30 HLD from Mace and Shield Reading Glasses (Blackthorn equivalent of it to have 5 metal armor pieces for stamina loss reduction).

5) 100 DI on suit (to use weapons without Damage Increase).

6) 35 SSI on suit. (to use weapons without SSI). Last 5 SSI vomes from Cameo Talismans. If you plan to use other Slater Talismans (An Bal Xen / In Corp Mani Xen / Conjurer's Trinket) 5 SSI from City Loyality Town Bonus is required.

7) 45 HCI

8) 45 DCI

9) +95 skill points on gear - this is the most important point of this template.

10) 120 Swordsmanship, 120 Tactics, 120 Anatomy, 120 Bushido, 120 Parrying. 120 Swords and 120 Tactics must be a real skill for using Special Moves (Onslaught is used a lot and 20% resisting is achieved on 240 skill points combined).

11) Rest of the skills are switchable depending on situations:

- 100 Necromancy to 100 Lumberjack

- 85 Resisting Spells to 100 Chivalry (+15 from Gloves)

- 100 Necromancy to 115 Healing (+15 on Leggings).

The most time I run with 100 Necromancy and 85 Resisting Spells.

12) I found that Chivalry is not very needed nowadays. To use Sacred Journey spell I use switchable equipment to add +60 Chivalry skill points (+10 from Luna Lance, +10 from Sign of Order, +20 from ring and +20 from bracelet). I use Enchanted Apples for Remove Course, Trap Box for Paralyze. When Renevant is spawned I consider it as a bonus (extra Life, Mana and Stamina) so I do not need to dispel it.

13) Use Counter Attack a lot! and of course Evasion and Confidence.

14) When using Axes special move Onslaught is used all the time on this build. Armor Ignore when using Bladed Staff.

15) 45 LMC and metal armor provide a heavy bonus to stamina loss reduction. Only 5 best pieces count.

16) Overcapped Stamina (with 35 SSI I need only 150 stamina to swing 3.25 weapons at max speed) and overcapped Strength to prevent loss when under the course. I also have Rose of Trinsic petals in backpack for additional +5 STR when needed (and it last 5 min each). You can keep a few Rose of Trinsic in backpack and gather petals from there. It's never-ending supply.

17) Use Paroxy Dragon for 12% damage reduction or / and Exceptional Dragon Barding on Swamp Dragon for 20%.

A few more details about template:

You can take Tunic of your choice. Balron Bone Armor gives a lot of Stamina, Mana, Strength and Hit Points. But you can also chose piece with Damage Eater or more Regens if you like. Basically Tunic only needs to have 18 Fire Resists and 5 HP - rest are stats of your choice.

You can use Boots of your choice. No requirements here.

- New Azarok's Legplates and Gloves of Holy Warrior adds another +30 skill points to template. It comes very handy when you swap skills to Healing or Chivalry. Basically by changing Necromancy to Healing you can convert it from Sampire to normal Warrior with 115 Healing (and 120 Anatomy).

- New Shadowbane Tabbard comes with 10 HCI and 10 DCI. Imbue weight of those is a lot bigger than 10 SSI which comes from Lord Morphius' Epaulettes. Shadowbane Tabbard also includes 8 LMC. Overall I think it is better piece than Lord Morphius' Epaulettes.

Corrupted Paladin Vambraces are enhanced using agapite ignots and Forged Metal of Artifacts.

What could be improved / changed?

- Remove 10 DCI from Ring or Bracelet, or from both and use Refinements with at last 20 DCI on suit. This can add extra 9-18 skill points on your Ring and Bracelet (Chivalry or Resisting Spells).

- Remove 5 DCI from Sash and use Warlord Sash for 10 Damage Eater

PS.

Post your end game Archer templates (and other templates too). I would love to see some

Here is video how this build works in current Treasures of the Shattered Sanctum event. Not the best run (low spawn due to traffic in Atlantic) but still 22 drops in 11 min. No Potion of Glorious Fortune and only 125 luck on suit. I really enjoy this event on this template, best TOT so far, thanks @Kyronix

I use Plate version of Mace and Shield Reading Glasses here, Conjurer Trinket and 5 SSI Town bonus and lowered STR a bit to have stats like 150 HP, 100 Mana, 199 stamina.

Hi Amelia,

Thanks for sharing. May I ask why you stop at 85 resisting spells? Is there some specific breakpoint at that level, or do you just feel that’s a good enough amount?

I’ve been thinking of my sampire as:

Weapon 120
Tactics 120
Parrying 120
Bushido 120
Resist 120
Necro 100

Then either as much Anat as possible or maybe 80 chiv.

I’m not as good with Sampires as others. I’ve been playing more defensively and am enjoying the Bushido mastery. Because I already have swords on another character, I was thinking of sticking with mace or fencing, I recognize which are not as good as swords.
#3
I tested Resisting Spells a lot and I think 85 is good middle ground. Of course it would be better to have 100 or 120 Resisting Spells but at current item stage it is not possible to include it without sacrificing other skills. The idea of this template is to have as much damage as possible and to have possibility to swap skills easily (Chivalry and Healing).

120 Anatomy is a must, 120 Swords and Tactics (real skills) works for Onslaught Special Move and Double Strike. 120 Parrying works best for Counter Attack which I also use a lot (combined with Onslaught and Double Strike). 120 Bushido for spells and Whirlwind Attack. This gives 100 to Necromancy and rest to Resisting Spells.

There is always a few questions to ask yourself when going to fight something in UO:
1. Is it possible to Life Leech from it? If yes take Sampire, if no use Healing + weapon without HLL.
2. Is there a Slayer type for it? If yes Chivalry is not needed, if no take Chivalry skill on you for Enemy of One and Bushido for Honor.
3. How high are resists on it? If low use Onslaught + Double Strike (Double Axe), if high use Armor Ignore (Bladed Staff).

In my opinion Swordsmanship Mastery is best choice. Most of the time I use Onslaught Special Move. Also from that Mastery comes 5 HCI, 5 DCI, 5 STR which are part of the template. 20 Mana from Bushido Mastery is nothing special. We used to play Sampires with as low as 65 Mana and it was fine. Now we can have 100 mana from current gear which is a plenty.

With current event you can get 4 pieces that you need for Sampire. Other items are not that expensive, the only real problem is Sentinel's Mempo (150m on ATL), Gloves of Holy Warrior (200m on ATL) and Cameo (200-400m each on ATL). You can use cheaper talismans as alternatives and city bonus for 5 SSI. Conjurer's Trinket, An Bal Xen, Corsair's Insignia.

Great write up and info.

Saddest part is there are only two non artifact armor pieces in that suit (jewels) and they are imbued and not crafted because you can’t craft SSI.

My point is that this shows how much crafted has been killed by loot drops from events. Even hunting has been replaced by event drops.

Yes weapons are crafted but only because monster loot tables never drop useable weapon combinations.

Upcoming 2025 event brings new items, and one of them is Riftbreaker Quiver. That item allows more stamina and dex on template (but I lose 5 Anatomy skill points). More stamina is needed for the idea I had in mind for some time. The idea is to use Two Handed Axe in some cases or just for fun. Two Handed Axe base damage is 16-19 and base speed is 3.5 so we need at last 35 SSI and 180 stamina to swing every 1.25 sec. 210 stamina would be perfect to have some buffer. New Quiver can help us a bit to get there.

On my template we can also swap Necromancy with Lumberjacking (and it is not Sampire but "Bushido Paladin" then ;) ) Which gives us a lot of damage output - up to 79-94 x3.

Here is video how it works without Quiver. I do not have new Quiver on me so my stamina is at 199 for now. I made this mostly for fun, good to do some speed runs on more simple boss like Navrey. My kill time 4 min 20 sec. It was third attempt.

PS 1. With 15 more real skill points on Resisting Spells it would be swappable with Lumberjacking too.

PS 2. I forgot POF that weapon imbuying 😂

Any reason why 120 anatomy is a must?
#7
120 Anatomy is a must to have max possible damage output from setup. If you really need to lower something try lowering Parrying a bit.
#8
1 minute of gameaplay from current TOT event, several drops.

#9
For Sampire:

120 Sword
120 Tactics
120 Bushido for many reason
120 Parrying for Bushido Counter Attack
100 Chivalry to remove curse, cure, heal, consecrate, sometimes EOO after isolating a paragon.
100 Necro
100 Anatomy or 100 resist

Total: 720 + 60 = 780 skills.
+15 x 4 skills on jewels.

It all depends on stuff you fight honestly. If there is Slayer type on mob you fight then Chivalry is not needed. You can use Enchanted Apples for Remove Course and Trap Box for Paralyze.

Templates without Anatomy are weaker, it is the Sampire template from 10 years ago.

Swap Chivalry with Anatomy and see how it goes. Resisting Spells can be also swappable with Chivalry. It is not needed in many cases.

Four minutes of gameplay from current event, several drops, no potion, used Axe and Helm from event. Rest of the suit is the same as in past.

I did not change my Sampire setup. Only for this event I use Riftwarden's Eviscerator Axe which has Hit Lower Defence on it. So there is not need to use Mace And Shield Reading Glasses, and that's why I use Helm Umbrascale Champion's Aegis for extra stats.

any advice on acquiring the clean low mod jewels? I guess just farm mid range stuff?

I still haven't figured out the algorithm (although some have) , but you want to farm low-mid range stuff with a certain amount of luck...I want to say it's like farming wind elementals with 1200ish luck. I think you can also do something similar in the Trog cave. Basically you want a lower mob that drops items with fewer properties vs something like a greater dragon that drops items with more properties.
#14
I usually just buy them via VS. Those cost around 15-30 mil each.

I also hear that you can farm those by killing Troglodytes.
#15
I tried VS but I just get a you must refine your search error. I’ll try to play around with the search parameters

I usually search for "clean ssi" words in VS. Cannot upload Picture (not working) but here is one vendor on ATL: Clean Jewelry: 32o 31'S, 35o 34'W (Trammel)

Hi everyone,

I’m pretty new to UO (about 3 months in). I started with an archer, then tried a tamer for a while, but that felt too slow and boring for me. Recently I discovered the sampire playstyle and I really enjoy it for solo PvM – it feels much more active and fun.

I just read your sampire write-up and it was super helpful, thank you for sharing all those details. Your suit and weapons look like true end-game gear. My character is still very weak and almost naked compared to that, so I don’t want to spam the thread with too many stupid questions, but I have a few short ones.

1) Client / UI
In your screenshots the backpack looks huge and very clean. I’m using the Enhanced Client on Atlantic. Are you also on EC with some custom UI, or a different client / tool, to get that large backpack and any kind of auto-loot or other QoL features? If you have any recommendations (UI mods, macros, etc.), I’d really appreciate it.

2) Gold farming on Atlantic
What would you recommend as a good way to farm gold quickly for a new sampire on Atlantic? I’ve heard that farming essences is one of the best options right now. Is that still true, or are there any better beginner-friendly spots or activities that I should try first?

3) Weapons for a young sampire
I’m about to ask a crafter friend to make 5–6 super slayer weapons. For a fresh sampire, would you start with Bladed Staff or Double Axe? My Necromancy is still low, so I’m not in vamp form all the time. I was thinking about something like: Slayer + Hit Life Leech + Hit Mana Leech + Damage Increase + Swing Speed Increase (maybe without Stamina Leech for now). Does that setup make sense for a young character, or would you build those weapons differently?

Thanks in advance for any advice, and sorry if these are very basic questions!

#19
You can put farming of essences on hold right now.  The event that going on right now has some good armor and accessories for all of your templates.

Use your Sampire at the active dungeon. Walk back and forth by the town cryer to see the active dungeons. Go kill stuff.  You get drops in your pack from the Mobs.  You turn those in to an NPC next to Trinsic mint.  There's 12 pages of things to buy.

To begin,  get a cold or energy double axe, dragon slayer. (you could use any double axe you have until you can afford the weapon on the vendor.) You just WW everything.   Then you buy the Reptile slayer tali on the vendor, you will be cutting them like butter.  You Double Strike the singles.  These mobs have low resist so no staff needed for AI right now.  Luck gives you more drops, Do an hour after rubbing a statue.

Do that first, you will learn to play your sampire and get better armor and weapons!

There wont be a lot of gold since they turned off corpses but the items on the NPC are what you are after.

You can buy Nest maps with your points and do nests for a chance to get a Mature Egg!
IMO a warrior is best for Nests.  Any can do the lower ones.

Take gates to the Matriarch, you have a chance for the mature Egg.  You can loot the corpses there. Players will drop the loot bag gold on the ground sometimes, most corpses will have gold when they go public.  Can get your insurance gold from these.

Have Fun!

Yes it is standard EC client where I just moved windows around the screen to feel comfortable.

Just take your time and do everything step by step. I can explain some of those but do not feel overwhelmed by it. It also take a lot of time for me to learn everything and I'm still learning. Only attacking macros are complicated here, rest is basic stuff. You can also check out all the options in game menu to see what suits you best. Like legacy paperdoll, legacy containers (about which you have asked) etc.

On the left side of the window (that 1, 2, 3 icon) are my main macros for attacking.

1 - Select Nearest Enemy, Attack Current, First Special Attack
2 - Select Nearest Enemy, Attack Current, Second Special Attack
3 - Counter Attack, Delay 0.5 sec, Select Nearest Enemy, Attack Current, Onslaught

For single encounter with low resists I use Double Axe and press macro number "3", then when Onslaught hits (sound effect or info on Onslaught icon) i press macro "1" four times and repeat process. In short it's Counter Attack + Onslaught + 4x Double Strike. So basically I only activate Counter Attack with Onslaught every 4 hits. Never in the middle.

For single encounter with high resists I use Bladed Staff and two macros. One with Counter Attack before Armor Ignore (with 0.5 delay) and one without Counter Attack.

I also use 3 macros as above but without Select Nearest Enemy. Why? Because when I fight multiple enemies at once and want to hit one specific I do not want to change target each hit. For example Dark Father fight is like that. And that's why on my game screen there are 4 rows of macros named "1", "2", "3".

There is also Honor macro that I use:

Mount Paroxysmus' Swamp Dragon:

And multiple macros for equipment. Like equip talismans, weapons, chivalry suit (which gives me +60 stat boost, i use it for Sacred Journey spell), necromancy book and Arcane Boots to cast Vampiric Embrace.

I also have First Aid Bandage on my equipment. It allows me to have bandages on body when I die. And bandages can be used to resurrect Paroxysmus' Swamp Dragon without any skills (works only in Trammel).

2) Gold farming on Atlantic
What would you recommend as a good way to farm gold quickly for a new sampire on Atlantic? I’ve heard that farming essences is one of the best options right now. Is that still true, or are there any better beginner-friendly spots or activities that I should try first?
Like Pawian said join event! Each event drop in Atlantic is worth at last 200 000 gold now. And you can easily farm them in dungeon or doing event boss. Those events are best to gather gold selling drops and also remember to get items which are rewards there for those drops (some of them are best in slot item like Sentinel's Mempo or Gloves of The Holy Warrior). I also farm gold this way and try to update my characters.

When the event ends, easy spot to farm is Mini Champion Spawns in Abyss. I used to farm there Animated Legs of Insane Tinker (its hard to get this rare drop, currently price on Atlantic 160 mil gold) from the boss Devourer of Souls. Is is number 11. Abyssal Lair Entrance https://uo.com/wiki/ultima-online-wiki/combat/pvm-player-versus-monster/stygian-abyss-mini-champion-spawns/ ;

Double Axe if you plan on fighting multi targets, and Bladed Staff if you plan fighting one mob at once. Slayer + Hit Life Leech + Hit Mana Leech + Damage Increase + Swing Speed Increase will work, just try put as much DI and SSI on suit as you can. To put as much Life Leech and Mana Leech on weapons as you can. Don't spend to much on those, because it will be replaced quick by better weapons 🙂

Hi Amelia,

Thank you so much for your detailed reply. I really appreciate the time you spent and the screenshots you made. Your explanations helped me a lot, and even though I am still new and learning, I already understand much more thanks to you and my guild.

I still have a few questions.
The first one is about the large backpack window you have in your screenshots. I am using the Enhanced Client too, but I still cannot figure out how to make the backpack bigger. Maybe you can tell me where exactly this setting is?

Another thing I still don’t understand is the ability “Onslaught.” I can’t find it anywhere — not in weapon specials, not in macros, not in any menus. Maybe I’m missing something, so if you can explain where this ability is supposed to appear, I would be very grateful.

And one more question: do you have any simple advice on how to deal at least some damage to the Matriarch so I can have a chance for a reward bag? Right now I am still too weak to fight her normally.

Thanks again for your time and your help. It really means a lot.

I also wanted to ask one more thing about Necromancy. I leveled it up to 75, and my karma dropped from +8000 to –16000. What is the fastest way to restore my karma back up? I’m not sure what works best on this server, so any advice would help a lot.
#24

Could you help me understand this? I think I’m doing something wrong. Where exactly should the arrow be?
.......................................

Onslaught и Time of Legends:

Thank you for explaining Onslaught. I opened the link, but I still don’t understand — is it free, or do I need to buy the Time of Legends expansion on the website to use it?

#25
to resize the back pack you'll need to uncheck 'enable grid legacy containers'
I'm afraid to use masteries you need to have the time of legends expansion, which you would need to buy.

#26
OMG! NIIICE THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! now is great!!!!
how to buy it? on that web site?
#27
Yes. Follow the link on the uo.com front page EA Store
#28
can someone explain this? I raised my Necromancy to 90 (actually 91) and I have a +10 Necro spellbook. sp it is 101. I cast Lich Form, but it drops after about 10 seconds. Even if I don’t change any gear, the form still disappears. If I swap clothes, it also cancels immediately.
Why does Lich Form last so little? I thought once you cast it, it stays active. What am I doing wrong? How is it supposed to work correctly?
#29
it should be permanent until you either recast it, die, or cast some other transformation spell. Something else must be going on, but I'm not sure what.
#30
And one more question: do you have any simple advice on how to deal at least some damage to the Matriarch so I can have a chance for a reward bag? Right now I am still too weak to fight her normally.
It is hard to hit Matriarch with not fully geared Sampire template. I did not check this, but I think if you hit mobs that appear around Matriarch you will get loot rights too. The best template for that place in my opinion is Archer.

Positive Karma is gained primarily by defeating monsters. Usually higher difficulty creatures give more karma and fame. Creatures in Felucca give more fame/karma than their counterparts in Trammel/Ilshenar/Malas etc. You will have quite a grind...the "fastest" way depends on what creatures you are capable of killing quickly, ideally something powerful with a high spawn rate.

Casting Necromancy spells gives negative karma and should be avoided by any character that uses Chivalry casting. To avoid this problem, players can train Necromancy on a seperate character and use a Soulstone to transfer the Necromancy skill to the Sampire character to avoid tanking tbeir karma. For the same reason, once your Sampire is trained up, should avoid using Necromancy spells (aside from Vampric Embrace).

Chivalry is widely used but not essential to the Sampire build. Bushido, Necromancy, Tactics, a weapon skill and usually accompanying Parry and Resist. Some players leave Chivalry out of their build, others use soulstones to sub in Resist only when needed.

Chivalry is used for the spells being Enemy of One and Consecrate Weapon, which aren't needed if you can craft and imbued weapons with the proper elemental damage type and slayer type needed for what you are fighting. Heal Wounds and Cleanse by Fire shouldn't be used often by the Sampire as casting resets the weapon swing timer and both poison and hit points should be taken care of by the Vampire form provided by the Vampric Embrace spell. Characters can also carry yellow healing and orange cure potions if you have access to a good Alchemist. The only other spell often needed is Remove Curse...when fighting creatures that cast the necromancy spell Blood Oath, a Remove Curse is usually needed to prevent a Sampire from hacking itself to death due to the reflected damage.

Hey everyone. I’m a bit confused and need some advice, so I’m posting my skills, stats, weapon, and talisman screenshots below.

I was told by my guildmates to drop Anatomy and raise Resisting Spells, so I lowered Anatomy from around 110 down to 23. But now my damage is much lower.

Before, with Anatomy 110, I was doing around 110–120 Double Strike damage on Navrey with a Spider Slayer weapon + Spider Slayer talisman.
Now with almost the same setup (just using a Reptile Slayer talisman) my Double Strike is only around 80.

So now I’m really not sure what to do.

❓ Does Anatomy really affect melee damage THAT much?

Because the difference for me is huge.

❓ Should I raise Anatomy back up and drop Chivalry instead?

I almost never use Chivalry anyway (except for traveling).
My gear is also not as strong as the end-game builds I see here, so I’m not sure what the best option is.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

When it comes to skills used that's going to be different depending on who you ask (and what they/you fight mainly).

To answer your first question; no anatomy isn't going to be accountable for an extra 30 damage per hit; the loss of damage is because you changed your talisman from spider/arachnid (which Navrey is) to a reptile slayer (which navrey is not); so you are no longer benefiting from that damage. Swap it back and I'm guessing you will see close to what you were getting (maybe 2-4damage less).

My 2 cents:

It doesn't make sense to have 20 of any skill (especially if your toon is human and has JOAT). I'd drop that skill (whether it be anatomy of resist) to 0 and give points to other skills like tactics (this helps damage output).

You can drop Necro by 2 points to 99 (will keep Vamp form) and use those 2 points elsewhere... the 2 extra points you have in there now aren't going to make a difference in casting.

With the 25 extra points you will have by dropping those skills; I'd put 5 into tactics (for 120 tactics) and then make a choice... do you want to be more tanky? If so drop the remaining points into resist and parry to bring them up to 120 each. If you think you tank just fine then drop 15 points into Bushido (for evasion - Bushido needs to be 100+) and 5 into Chiv (for easier casting & slightly longer spell duration).

For what it's worth; I don't have anatomy on my sampire at all and I do just fine with damage output. I also have my resist at 120 because most of what I'm fighting (ToT spawn etc) has casting ability and I'd prefer less paralyze/curse effects/etc.
#34
You can copy to TC and see how anatomy effects base damage.  Make it 0 make it other things and see the % change on base damage.

For templates that require more than 720 skill, anatomy is the first to go.

Your strength not being 150 is reducing damage more than anatomy can increase it.

Pawain said:

Could you post what source or logic you are using for your statement Pawain?

According to the uo.com wiki at https://uo.com/wiki/ultima-online-wiki/skills/melee-fighting/
Melee Damage Calculation
Tactics Damage Bonus% = Tactics ÷ 1.6 (Add 6.25% if Tactics >= 100)
Anatomy Damage Bonus% = (Anatomy ÷ 2) (Add 5% if Anatomy >= 100)
Lumberjack Damage Bonus% = Lumberjack ÷ 5 (Add 10% if Lumberjacking >= 100)
Strength Damage Bonus% = Strength * 0.3 (Add 5% if Strength >= 100)
Total Damage Bonus% = Tactics Bonus + Anatomy Bonus + Lumber Bonus + Strength Bonus + Damage Increase Items†
Final Damage = Base Damage + (Base Damage * Final Damage Bonus%)
† Damage Increase from items is capped at 100%, Damage bonus is capped at 300%.

The stats tonyberz posted were 139 Strength and 23 Anatomy

  Strength damage bonus = (139 * 0.3) + 5 = 46.7% round down to 46%
  Anatomy damage bonus = (23 * 0.%) = 11.5% round down to 11%

Increasing Strength 11 points from 139 to 150 would reach 50% damage increase, only a gain of 4% more compared to the 11% granted by Anatomy.

So is tonyberz at maximum damage cap of 300%?  No
78% from Tactics 115
11% from Anatomy 23
46% from Strength 139
100% from Damage Increase equipment properties
Total = 234%*

*Slayer items not included.

From looking at the Base damage on TC.

This makes my archers feel better because they can't wear most of the event armor because of no MR on the pieces. They don't have 150 str normally.

But the str does not require 120 skill points. For its increase.

@Thalon - I think where pawain was going there is that to help maximize damage; strength should be at 150 and since it's not a skill that's something most people prioritize.

@tonyberz - I'd agree the strength also needs to be bumped to 150. If you go human instead of elf on your Sampire; you will get a free +20 anatomy and lumberjack from JOAT. I have both a human and elf sampire setup very similar and my human toon does an extra 1-2damage per hit.

Hi everyone, thanks again for taking the time to help me. I really appreciate how much attention you give and how you help me improve my character — it means a lot.

1. How can I raise my Strength above 144? My cap is 150, but my Strength completely stopped gaining. What should I do to increase it? Chop trees? Use a stat transfer stone? I've never used one before, so I'm not sure how it works. Do I need to put money on my account, buy the stone, select which skill to store (for example Resist), then raise Lumberjacking and get more Strength that way?

I saw in a video that Amelia uses Lumberjacking specifically for Navrey, but not for events or other bosses. One of my goals was to kill Navrey solo without a pet, and yesterday I finally did it — but my Double Strike hits were around 80 damage, while his setup hits around 150. I used Necro/Vampiric Embrace, he uses something else instead of Necro. Also, even though my axe is Spider Slayer and my talisman is Arachnid, switching from Reptile to Arachnid did NOT increase my damage at all. That confused me a lot.

----------------------------------------------Me--------------------------------------------

2. I understand everyone has different opinions, but if we look strictly at the game mechanics — Anatomy does increase damage, and Lumberjacking seems to as well. But we must sacrifice something to fit skills. I have three goals that might not be compatible:
a) kill Navrey fast
b) PvP on Felucca
c) farm events fast for drops to sell and buy upgrades for my Sampire

3. What is the best path for me? I’ve been playing for 3 months. I saved around 60m gold. I am thinking about buying the event dragon (the one that absorbs 12% damage). Can you ride it? Do I need to bond it to ride? Is it actually good? I also have 500 ToT points, so I could buy it for free — but it might be more profitable to buy 6 top-tier weapons for 500 points and sell them for ~18m each, then buy two dragons instead.

Also, Amelia mentioned that the dragon can be upgraded to 20% damage reduction. How is that done?

4. PvP is a separate topic. I hear that archers and mages with parry are the strongest right now, so Sampires are not as good in PvP. And you also need a coordinated group to be effective. I will ask PvP questions later.

5. Last question — about the “fun factor.” As a new player, everything was interesting while leveling. Now I feel like I can kill most monsters and there is no challenge anymore. One of the reasons I want to play PvP on Felucca is to keep the game exciting.

Outside of PvP, what else is there to do? Farming event dragons became boring. Treasure maps are fun but the rewards are extremely low — Grand Dragon Nest maps cost 700k and drop almost nothing except essences nobody buys. How else can I make gold? And what activities stay interesting long-term?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Your stats( Str,Dex,Intel) have a 125 maximum. You can add another 25 points to that with items. For a max of 150.

You increase and decrease those to get your desired stats.

Take off everything and see what your stats are.  If your strength is not 125 then you should lower your intel until it is.

If your Strength is 125 then you can only reach 150 with items that have + str.

Ozymandia's Obi has +10str.  So you just need 3 other pieces with 5.  There are 3 on the current event NPC.

The event armor has +5 Str. That is why it is popular. +str is difficult to find on looted armor.

When you replace armor pieces you have to adjust your Stats to get full benefit, which can be a pain to stop at the right time.

Use rocks on Navrey. That is the fastest way.  Since her fire resist is around 50, you can use a double axe with Double Strike.

I commend you on the pictures and specific points. Well done posts!

@tonyberz - Pawain answered your #1 point so I'll skip that.

On your second point; I'll tag in @PlayerSkillFTW to speak on how anatomy / LJ add damage and what it is. I do not think having 120 anatomy vs 23 will create a 40pt damage swing, but I don't have the math to support that.

A little more on your second point; generally speaking if you want to be "good at PvP" you are going to have a different build than if you are killing monsters...from suit stats to actual skills. While a PvP build might do ok for killing some event spawn (etc); it's not going to be the fastest killing setup as if you went with 100% PvM. You will need to pick which one you want to be the "strongest" at or kind of meet in the middle for a PvE type toon, but just know this will likely be a toon that can PvP a good amount (but probably struggle against the top people) and be decent at PvM (but not killing things like Navrey the fastest).

#3 As with everything else in UO; the choice is yours based on what you want. Do you want to make more gold?? If so, claim stuff to sell and make gold. If you are good on gold and you really just want to build the best toon that you can, I suggest getting the 500pt bird. It's a reskinned/rehued Paroxy Dragon... meaning you can ride it, it auto bonds, and it gives the rider a 12% damage reduction. There isn't a 20% reduction option for this mount; I believe Amelia would be talking about using an armored swampy instead... they give 20% damage reduction but you need to reapply their armor every so often based on the damage you take (the bird mount is 12% reduction forever; never need to reapply any armor).

#4 Kind of touched on this above. I'd suggest if you really want to PvP to make a separate toon. Again generally speaking it's going to be a different build; none of the PvP people I see are using Vamp form so that's a complete change from using a Sampire.

#5 There are plenty of things you can get into, again you decide what you think is fun. It sounds like you might need to develop a few other toons for PvP etc... so you can build those... farm this event to outfit them. This is just my opinion, but this is what I'm doing (you might think differently than me). I am doing a few "luck runs" a week in the dungeons to get drops, meaning I hit the luck statues (and sometimes will pop a potion) and non-stop kill in the dungeon for an hour. The other time, I am doing massive nests (with my Sampire) in search of mature eggs and depending on if I'm on my luck hour (or not) I do the matriarch as she spawns.

My advice to you is to not bother buying the grand maps. If you hit the matriarch when she spawns, there is a chance you will get them there. You also might get some drops which you turn in and at 20 drops you can get a massive map....when you do the massive map there is a chance you get get a grand map in there (along with more drops & a mature egg). You can also farm some of the event spawn like I do for your luck hour and get the massive maps that way (that's what Ive done). Your end goal would be to get a mature egg and from there you either have a cool new pet for your tamer (if you don't have one you can build one and that gives you something to do) OR you can sell it and make a good amount of gold to outfit your toons.

1) I consider Lumberjacking as totally optional skill. Damage bonus is too small and it costs  another 100 skill points which is a lot. At last with current gear, in future it might be possible to run it all time. With my template you can run Lumberjacking instead of Resisting Spells in some cases if you fight things that do not cast curses.

Anatomy is a must in my opinion. Templates without Anatomy is thing from past in my opinion, where you couldn't include all the skill points needed on jewelry. This template is all about running Anatomy with Resisting Spells and dropping Chivalry when it is not needed (depending on what you fight, for me most of the times).

About your damage, do you use Onslaught? Onslaught reducing one of their victim’s resists based on the swordsman’s swordsmanship and tactics skill and the damage type of the weapon used for a duration based on mastery level. In simple words Onslaught does up to minus 20 resist based on current weapon elemental damage. So i lower 20 fire resists there on Navrey before I do Double Strike.

Go back to my post about macros and see how I do damage there.

On the left side of the window (that 1, 2, 3 icon) are my main macros for attacking:

1 - Select Nearest Enemy, Attack Current, First Special Attack
2 - Select Nearest Enemy, Attack Current, Second Special Attack
3 - Counter Attack, Delay 0.5 sec, Select Nearest Enemy, Attack Current, Onslaught

I press one time number 3 and then four times number 1.
So it is Counter Attack, Onslaught, 4x Double Strike

5) For me fun is trying to do some places as fast as possible while doing as much damage as possible. For example Champion Spawns or some Bosses. Try Stygian Dragon if you can kill it etc. Try Roof solo.

For gold Champion Spawns are still good, because of expensive scrolls.

When the event ends, easy spot to farm is Mini Champion Spawns in Abyss. I used to farm there Animated Legs of Insane Tinker (its hard to get this rare drop, currently price on Atlantic 160 mil gold) from the boss Devourer of Souls. Is is number 11. Abyssal Lair Entrance https://uo.com/wiki/ultima-online-wiki/combat/pvm-player-versus-monster/stygian-abyss-mini-champion-spawns/ ;

Double Axe if you plan on fighting multi targets, and Bladed Staff if you plan fighting one mob at once. Slayer + Hit Life Leech + Hit Mana Leech + Damage Increase + Swing Speed Increase will work, just try put as much DI and SSI on suit as you can. To put as much Life Leech and Mana Leech on weapons as you can. Don't spend to much on those, because it will be replaced quick by better weapons 🙂

What does this mean? Is it an item?  "I also have First Aid Bandage on my equipment"

Spawn is never big enough, fun in Blood Dungeon.
