My inscription is stuck at 60. I did not choose the quest path with this mage.
Magery and meditation are both at 100 and eval is at 51.2.
Is inscription tied to another skill? Is there something I need to do to move past 60?

Baratoz said:Well I raised my evaluate intelligence to 59.6, then got a 1 point increase and it got stuck at 60.6. My inscription will not increase past 60 and eval won’t go past 60.6. I have plenty of available skill points.
my character is on the divergent path. I shouldn’t need quests, correct? Is there something I need to do to move past this or is there a glitch in my character.
I requested a GM in game, but waited around 1.5 hours without a response. I had to log out.
Does anyone know why this is happening?

I have a bit of an update. I decided to add a few more skills thinking that might affect my character’s problem. I went to add Resisting Spells and found the Advanced Skill Trainer to do it. The text said it would be 10k in gold, I would get 50 in skill points, but I had to first see another character before I could get the skill. That character gave me a quest path. I had to kill 20 magical creatures to get 10 skill points in Resisting Spells. I did this over and over again until I reached 100. I went back to the original trainer and she said she had nothing for me. I’m on the divergent path and I had to do a quest. Figure that out.
I decided to add focus for faster mana regeneration. That went as expected. I paid 10k in gold, got 50 points and it raised naturally to 100.
As far as my inscription, I’ve made a lot of scrolls at my max level and some lower. I’ve done some BODS, no gains there. I tried killing some drakes and deamons, no gains. I did get a couple gains while clearing out the graveyards to complete the Resisting Spells quests, and I used my summoned deamon for that. I have had ZERO eval intelligence gains.
I would really like someone to give me a straight answer as to whether or not you can increase inscription through making scrolls after 60. This is getting ridiculous, and I can’t do what I want with my character.
Thank you for confirming that this is a problem. They really need to fix this and stop pretending it's not a problem and we are doing something wrong.Malcore said:I have the same issue as everyone else. I can't gain the skill above 60. I started my character as a ranger with archery and that training went perfect. Then I took Inscription to use the rest of the available skill points. I worked the skill up to 60 making scrolls and there were no issues. Then it stopped. I am thinking this is a bug that they are not willing to address. The reason I say that is it was the same way when we were doing the bata testing. It was reported then and nothing was done.
I hope someone will address this soon so I can complete my character.

The second part to my guide will be the best way to gain eval Int post 60.0 skill on the divergent path. Punch all the above while using eval int on them. I made a macro in the ec. Drop the Eval Int skill in the macro use current target with a 1.5 sec delay. fastest way i have gained it since hitting 60.0 just casting spells to kill things gives me a gain about every 15 mobs. doing it this way gives me a gain about every mob. Note: i have stopped getting inscription gains simply punching the above.Victim_Of_Siege said:as per @ Pawain 's suggestio, here is a guide my newly discovered method for gaining inscription.
1) punch a goat
2) punch a dog
3) punch a Llama
4) rinse and repeat.
5) punch a walrus
I decided to gain wrasslin today and went to a spot with lot's of creatures and starting punching, kept getting scribe gains mixed in. Punching animals gains scribe, Who knew??
**Edited to Add Punch a Walrus to the list**

Yep, i've tried every conventional and non conventional thing i could and no more gains. every other skill i started with is GM. Thank you though.Kalsey said:@ Victim_Of_Siege
Wish I could help. Don't like to see these questions and issues go without acknowledgement, Is that the only skill arrowed up? Is it possible skill points are going to a different skill when receiving a gain?
I'm sure you thought of this, simply wanted to acknowledge your issue. Gook luck.
Hmm, I haven’t tried punching garlic yetPawain said:They will fix this right after farming for garlic or mandrake root.
@Community Manager can you nudge someone about this before he skins a Llama.Victim_Of_Siege said:I still have this Divergent character stuck at 62.2 inscription and haven't gotten a gain since last Thursday. All other skills are GM and I really cannot do anything with this character until that inscription is 100.0 @ Kyronix any idea about why my inscription is stuck? Let me know please.

Put on some clean underpants!!!!!Beyond that, if you feel it's a bigger issue, you can always page a GM to take a peek.
I appreciate the post, but I have tried scribing hunreds of spellbooks and 4th circle scrolls to no avail. I have submitted a bug report so we can only hope that @Kyronix or another DEV will be able to sort it out. *goes to punch and then skin a llama*Community Manager said:Victim_Of_Siege said:I still have this Divergent character stuck at 62.2 inscription and haven't gotten a gain since last Thursday. I would recommend taking a peek at what Mariah has posted about gaining skills for Inscription on New Legacy: https://uo.com/wiki/ultima-online-wiki/new-legacy-an-overview/new-legacy-crafting/new-legacy-skills-inscription/.
Beyond that, if you feel it's a bigger issue, you can always page a GM (providing you have not done so already) to take a peek.

I was getting gains on champs and bosses until i GM'd all the other skills. I've read every guide i could find, asked in general, twirled a cat by it's tail over a stump at midnight after eating food, punched a goat, llama, etc, you name it I've tried it. it stopped gaining at 62.2% and will not budge, Points available are 257.8 and everything is turned up. And I have yet to find anyone that has GM'd it on the Divergent path. I wouldn't care except for i apparently cannot add any skills until I "finish" this character. I made this to test the divergent path and ensure it was working, guess we know now lol.Garret said:I'm pretty sure that u still can gain while fighting, I was able to gain like 3-5% per orc champion by just casting spells, but pattern unknown, didn't test inscription properly. I understand why we have 2 slots limit but for this state of game we better have more slots so we can test better and more builds and later we can lower amount, but now to make proper feedback I have to buy second account to make tests, don't tell me try it on ej, I can't handle this bs bank.
Thanks, I'll update that. Some crafting requirements changed after beta, I must have missed that one.Victim_Of_Siege said:Oh and @ Mariah, the guide needs to be updated to reflect that Spellbooks only require 30 Inscription on NL
You're welcome. I do appreciate all the work you put into that. You're "Pages" have always been beneficial to me and others.Mariah said:Thanks, I'll update that. Victim_Of_Siege said:I've got it nailed, it's about 18-24 Ice Fiends or Daemons and you'll get either a 0.2 or 1.0 gain in inscription for killing it with spells. so to sum up my guide
- from 0-60 scribe scrolls
- From 60-64-ish Punch Goats, Rabbits, Walrus's, Lamas, Hogs, Dogs and Old Gnus
- 64-ish to GM (?) kill Ice Fiends and Daemons with spells. I'll update if i have to adjust what I kill at some point.
Thanks for the heads up.LoneSwan said:Victim_Of_Siege said:I've got it nailed, it's about 18-24 Ice Fiends or Daemons and you'll get either a 0.2 or 1.0 gain in inscription for killing it with spells. so to sum up my guide

@ Victim: Since you mentioned adding Poisoning to your Mage, I want to give you a heads-up that the same is happening with Poison skill (~61.4). I believe the "skill check" mechanics are not set correctly for either the Inscription or Poison skill. Waiting for a Developer to Comment...

Thank you, i haven't found anyone at the conservatory that would train me in anything yet. I'll go look again.ZekeTerra said:Congrats! Have you tried the npc GM at Lord British's Conservatory? I was able to pay 10k to learn/train Discordance there. Once you get the 50 skill you need to buy some instruments from the trader there. I raised the skill to 100 just by playing an instrument over and over (like you train Music on production shards). Once you GM it you can go back and buy the Book of Songs from the GM so you can add the Discord Scrolls (Despair and Tribulation) provided you have the scrolls.

No ma'amMariah said:I'll ask a silly question. You haven't locked any skills have you?

I could but the mana regen i get from focus and Med are better than Med alone and I can cast more spells on Bosses and heals on fellow players before needing to actively meditate with Focus on.Grimbeard said:Can you drop focus and add resistance?

below is the exact message. what it doesn't say is that it also unlocks access to the Bard/Tamer/Thief skills, basically any skill available to a divergent path character other than melee/mageMariah said:@Noted, I'll do my best.Victim_Of_Siege said:@ Mariah if this hasn't been put in the WiKi for NL, you may want to save someone the frustration i have faced since Finishing Inscription (which was just as frustrating lol)

Awesome, I am a bit busy until later this afternno but i'll take a look.Mariah said:I have edited a couple of pages, (houses and advanced skill trainers) and created a new character in order to make a page for divergent path - should be live in around an hour.
