Only time Krakens have had a Slayer, was during the 2019 Halloween "Treasures of the Sea" event. They were orange hued then and "Soulbound", which allowed the Tincture of Silver item to affect them.
My Prospector (Mining+LJ+Fishing) just uses this pre-patch Vollem (leveled once) to guard him as he gathers. It can easily kill Krakens, Deep Sea Serpents, Water Eles, or just about anything else on the seas (other than Plunder Beacons).
