Does the 3 hour life span start when you buy or first time you use? Why a timer at all ?

Because fish don't buy homes in the ocean... they go where ever the tide takes them (approx every 3 hours apparently) 😂

It starts when you claim it. It is actually a 4 hour timer - once you get it, it starts counting down right away. You have to look really quick to see the 4 before it turns to 3 hours and 59 minutes. (It doesn't show minutes.) If you claim it and something comes up, you can give to someone else to use.
