A guildmate has been trying to buy a 1 month GTC via the EA store for days 

Tried several cards myself tonight and non of them work. I am based in the UK. 

This message comes up in a yellow banner at the top:

Your request could not be processed.
We were unable to verify your credit or debit card. Please check your payment details and try again. Alternatively try another credit card or payment option or check with your card issuer or bank.

Tried to buy a gametime code today through the EA Store and had no luck.  Same credit card I've used before and I know it should work (ie I've got credit and it's not expired or anything).  I'm based in the US.

I think the system just rejects all payment types and has been intermittently down for about a week, as far as I can gather. A friend tried with an EA wallet balance for me in the US and that didn't work either.

Yep, agreed with you, our guys also having problems paying and getting back in.

I can make 1 purchase fine but when I try to make a second purchase and hit pay it give the yellow framed "Oops there is a problem please try again later blah blah"  SO I it the pay button again and it goes through but stays in *Processing* for  1-12 hours before the order is complete and the code sent to the email.

I can imagine that this is a problem with their ssl certificates which runs out last weeks. EA as intermediate partner has to import this cert files.

I purchased a 3 month GTC now, through PayPal and it worked. 6 months didn't, but that's fine for me for now.

Yep, just tried getting the 3 months and it worked here too...
I was trying to buy 1 month during the weekend (and earlier today) and was getting errors every time.

I can't buy codes.  The 2 orders I was able to place from multiple times trying say "payment pending" since January 31st, and my credit card said they approved them.  Between this and the auction safe debacle, I am growing concerned about UO.  At least no new content until April, so we can all take a break, see how they like it when subscriptions go down.

EA Germany still doesn't offer 6-month codes - are they still on it or what's the problem? From the other postings here I assume that the problem is also elsewhere in Europe. America and in the countries where other players are still enthusiastic about UO. Plz help as quick as possible - Thx.


People still want to get rid of money for this old luminary called UO and can not because  the offer is not right. This new homepage design of EA doesn't make it easy for the customer who needs codes for old online games - there is - in my opinion - no really good visible search function where you can search for games like UO which are now 25 years old (not 15  ;) ) .  Searching and finding something seems to be possible only via Google.....this old aunt knows nearby everything ;)

The little arrow will allow you to scroll to the 6 month code. Unlikely you’ll be able to buy it at the moment. The issues appear to fall into 4 categories
1. You get a processing message and no code / email with it stuck as pending
2. You get a message to try a different payment type (even tho the exact card works on other products on the same store)
3. You get an intermittent issue were sometimes it works but at a different time of day it does not 
4. You can only buy specific products such as 3 month GTCs  

I posted here about this over a week ago and a web post went onto the UO site. 

I appreciate broadsword can not physically sort out the issue but I urge you to update your ticket which EA appear to know nothing about. In the meantime at the very least you should stop letting peoples houses fall after 25 years because they can’t refresh them due to these issues which are clearly beyond their control.

I am told by some players that they have been able to purchase 3 month gametime codes. While this may not be ideal, it is an improvement on not being able to purchase at all.

Tried to buy sovereigns.  I was able to buy the 2,000 sovereign package but not the 5,000 sovereign package. Clicking on the confirm button for the 5,000 sovereigns brought up the spinning wait icon then nothing. Hopefully, I did not end up purchasing 3 of the 5,000 packages because I clicked the confirm button 3 times.

  I get to PAY NOW and click it and get the yellow box with " Something went wrong please try again later."  On Everything now.  LOL I know it is not a lack of funds or bank issue, I put a $6000 check for a steer in the UO Fund Checking acct on Monday.

 Tried your buying 2k Sovs and bought 10k worth with no problems.  Just more hassle entering more codes and figuring out if it is a 9 or g to confirm LOL.  SO yep can buy 2k.  Tried 5k after I bought the 2ks and still won't let it happen.

Do you purposely lie and give false information?  Do you not see all the EA logos on the store page that is called EA store?  Why would you think the developers of UO are who keep the store pages running?  EA has been notified if not by Mythic, posters have said they called them.  They just need to find the guy that knows UO is an EA game.

Well it may be convenient for the income of EA to be forced to purchase 90 Day GTC since attempts to pay for a 30 Day GTC run into the mentioned error.

One thing at a time, fix the payment system first. They can't even fix basix CC payment quickly in 2023 and this is not 1997.And you want them to solve cross border currency issue? Maybe this is the 1029th problem on the list. Take a queue number.

I bought sovereigns.  Well, tried to buy them.  This was back on 2-3-23.  Contacted support at UO and EA.  EA said talk to UO.  UO said talk to EA.  I tried one more time with EA and this was the remarkable answer from EA:

Next, I spoke on the phone with a support person, she really did try to be helpful but stated that there is a technical issue with EA communicating with Broadsword and that has had an effect on code generation.

It is over 20 days since i last purchased a code and they said 24 hours, 36 hours, than normally takes 72 hours for a resolution, now is over 20 days and EA said that they are aware and that i have to wait and check twitter.  I mean, really @Mesanna ??

At first I'd say yes it is crazy.... but honestly it's not super crazy considering there are so many fires going right now (people still can't stay logged into this site when using Chrome which has been going on like a month now and Pac has been crashing almost daily). They are likely spread too thin (and maybe certain things are beyond their capacity).

Maybe BS just need to sell manually-generated code directly, via Paypal at 50% discount, until the worldwide EA payment system is recovered.

I am informed via Discord that a French player of my acquaintance was able to purchase a one month subscription through the Broadsword | Account Management site yesterday. The cost in Euros a little higher than buying game time, but at least his account is active.

I start to believe that this was done in purpose to push the sale of the only code that no one ever bought.
You contact EA and they have no clue what UO is. You contact UO support and they say this is all EA. So what should we do?
And the fact that the devs would not even answer anything is really bad.

1) I always bought 6mt codes, because it's the cheapest one in the long run
2) I practically never bought 1mt codes, that's what most cheaters or house holders/sellers would do (like all those house frauds/cheats we have on Atlantic that don't exist on other shards)
3) Try and use EA chat with the support once in a while, you'll be 'surprised' how ignorant they REALLY are towards UO and all things related
4) Why should the UO devs answer on this EA Store mess because its not their store?
5) Post a thread to EA Answer HQ about this mess and I will gladly join in with my facts!
6) If nothing helps: can I has your stuff?

EA have no clue about this situation.
I dont think UO devs are doing much to have this fixed, is almost 30 days since it happened and still nothing. You would think that anything related to money coming into UO that is not working, would be addressed in less than 24 hours and not month later.

I've just met with two EA employees on the subject of
Purchase of GTC via PayPal not possible - they told me to contact you with the problem, so that it can be clarified.


I have a lot of patience and understanding, but that's enough for me!

How long are customers willing to put up with this back-and-forth of problems? What kind of "lick-me" attitude is this - sorry if I'm being so crass in my words, I really feel like I'm being taken for a ride. If you can't even begin to buy GTC for the main game, how please do you want to continue to prozudate and how please should you be able to get players for your new super project called NL?



Are they really that ignorant at EA or are they just pretending? And - or in other words: You are the same ! What the unwilling customer sees here - is that obviously nothing happens anymore! Mind you - after weeks nothing happens!

It annoys the hell out of all you loyal players and it keeps real interested people for this game from even dealing with this old aunt here.

When you talk to EA, 1st they have no idea what Ultima Online is. after you insist on the problem and show them that you bought and PAID for a product on January 28th and show "processing". They 1st said that the product may be out of stock, than they ask to contact the support for UO, I told EA, good luck with that as they never answer. Than they told me to use Twitter to get updates, I was like, look, I am getting tired of this, Who should we contact to get this resolved?

because to be honest, it really dont sound that complicated. if the 3 month code work, make a copy of the same product, change description and price and Voila!!!

That was a mistake, I know many people that had their accounts perma ban  because of that.
EA will think that you did in purpose and will ban the account for Fraud.  just be aware... happened before.

I am glad you were able to complete your purchase and get the code to enter at the store.  My purchase made on 2-2-23 is still pending, hence, the charge reversal on my end.  It's all good, I don't need to buy sovereigns but do anyway just for fun. Working out in all elements is good for you.

They should provide an estimated time to resolve this or explain the situation. 

The whole game is full of workarounds. I think we have seen enough. 

Spellbooks fail to go back into strap... workaround, stop complaining, put in yourself by hand!

What if recall and gates stop working... stop complaining, you can still travel by boat, ride a horse or on foot!

What if houses stop to refresh automatically and go into IDOC unless we login every day... workaround is... simply to login everyday.  😂

If the payment system can take weeks to fix at this age, it can explain why everything else will take forever to fix.

I fixed it for them so they can get on and immediately clear up the blatant discrimination against pvp miners .. I am starting to think the lumberjacks have lobbied hard for this closed shop of pvp damage

I find it interesting that people are not saying the reason for buying the 1 month codes instead of the 3 month codes. We all know the reason but will not say it out loud.

Wellllll not everyone. I just recovered an old acct and wanted only a month to move the items to my main. It wasn't full of Uber rares but I think at least a plat worth of random gear plus 3 vet rewards. Imma just grab that and close it.
