Hey gang. I'm a total noob to UO, well, not exactly. I have had experience with UO before but I'm not an expert and also not in the official servers. I was wondering if anyone can offer any tips and tricks or recommend videos with somewhat relevant info to today's day and age of UO? I know how to play, I just don't know how to play effeciently. Like say I can kill mobs and cast a few spells, but idk say where the best loot is found or how to make truckloads of cash other than by killing stuff. I also love fishing, if that helps. 🙂

Anyway, let me know any info you can! Thank you!!!

Welcome!

The best resource will always be your servers genchat. You'll find most people in-game (aside from a few bad eggs on the more populated servers) are very willing to help new people settle. We want the game to be populated, afterall!

You might also take a look at https://www.uo-cah.com/ which has a lot of in-depth information on how playing a tamer and building pets work. Also on that site there are videos on how to do some of the more modern content, like beacon and ship hunting, for good rewards. There's also a really good explanation of how vendor search works which can save a new person a ton of time as they shop for items. Their discord is also very active.

At the moment the Treasures of Hythloth event is going on and so on your server you'll find a ton of people down in that dungeon at all hours of the day. Not only would they be a good resource for advice but killing monsters in Hythloth gives you the chance to receive special "BLANK of Daemonic Forces" items. These items will individually sell for millions of gold to other players on your server or you can save up a bunch and turn them into the NPC for fun rewards. More info here: https://www.uo-cah.com/events/treasures-of-hythloth

It's a big game, though, so don't hesitate to ask here or on your server for help!

the official wiki mariah mentioned is great for how things work and exploring different areas PVP or PVM.
uo-cah.com is best for taming guide and basic event information and quests
uoguide.com is good for reference on mobs and loot tables.  Be cautious though as some of the data is outdated and no longer applies (not mob info, but secondary stuff like veteran rewards - uoguide says you can't use vet rewards if account is not old enough, which is not true).

Richard Sharp has this YouTube Channel for Sampire 101, now up to episode 6. I have found great information in his guides, and you might too!

Also some great discussions here as well ;)   https://community.stratics.com/

So glad there are SO many resources for this game!

You said you liked fishing so check out the Fishing and Treasure Hunting forum
https://community.stratics.com/forums/uo-fishing-and-treasure-hunting.423/

Thanks for that forum, didn't know such a thing existed tbh. I like this game, but so much of it seems like esoteric knowledge to me lol. I have been using uoguide like Drago said to find certain mobs and kill them, but even then I feel lost. Hopefully I figure it out soon D:

Well you want to try to focus on one thing.

Not sure what kinds of characters you have now or what their skills are, but you want to get in on the Halloween content right now, there are some great rewards.

You'll get completely exhausted trying to take everything in at one time. Pick one thing then move up when you've mastered it.

The truckloads of cash is currently in Hythloth for the drops. They fall into your pack and you can insure them in case you die. Turn in for rewards or sell. Area effect templates are most effective.

Baby steps or you'll get overwhelmed and give up. I've been here off and on since beta and i still don't know everything.

Yup Hythloth is perfect for returning players. Each drop can get you 2 to 5M if you want gold.
Just be wary it gets busy al of a sudden.

A Bone helm even more.
