Dropping Items Accidently Onto An NPC

Can we please get a pop-up to confirm giving an item to a NPC?

I was trying to give Mrs Claus a commodity deed and accidently dropped it onto a NPC.
He must have been one hungry fella

Hope it wasn't 60k void orb.

3000 dough
which is a big deal for a cook haha

Yup dough is good for a fresh toon making BODs for the Artisan Festival.

They usually do but I have also dropped random things accidentally onto them and they take it.

I dropped some 120 Chiv scrolls on a player that was dressed similar to my intended target.  Luckily he gave them back.  I didn't even notice until he asked, why?  I wondered how my other toon learned to talk on his own.

Accidentally dropped my spellbook onto an NPC just the other day ago. A GM was nice enough to return it to me. Here I for sure thought they wouldn't take a blessed item, but surprise!

Easy fix.  Mouse over and single click target and open a trade window and you will never have this problem again[.

I usually do open a trade window, but I was in a hurry and wasn't thinking.

It seems that the GM's have to like you to help you.
I did put in a ticket and the GM just sent a generic message about
not replacing lost or stolen items.
(after I waited around for 2 hours)

It isn't lost, its in the NPCs backpack.
(I figured a GM would have to power to remove it from the NPC's backpack
but apparently they don't know how to do it.)

I guess it depends on the accounts age
whether or not they will help you.

a guild member tried to place a fire painting & it poofed.
GM showed up and said that it was a known bug
and for her to email Mesanna.
who came to her house and placed it for her.

I remember when people dumped very valuable stuff onto "Inu the Crone" or similar NPCs back in 2006/08... what fun that was! And what an uproar! How do you even think of dumping stuff onto NPCs, well... we'll never know. (I was always too poor to dump valuable stuff on NPCs...)

I find myself still, once in a while, dropping some oddball item onto an NPC hoping for an easter egg. And I still feel like a scolded child after having done so. 🙁

I'll assume you couldn't kill the npc ...

They also would sell your stuff to an NPC back in the day. Just had to figure out which in NPC in which city...

Having read more about this problem I may be able to offer a little insight. Getting help from a GM can depend quite a lot on what you actually say in your page. What did you send?  In your place I would have said 'I have accidentally dropped a commodity deed on [name and location] I have snooped his pack and can see the deed but am unable to steal it because the npc is yellow. Are you able to retrieve the deed for me?'
