"I have never played a warrior before, i am trying to attack a player and a player will set a pet on me, and my character will then start to swing at the pet, or sometimes i want to attack the pet and the player will hit me and my char will swing at the player instead of the pet.
How to lock on one target please while being attacked by multiple?"

"against mobs you go into combat mode, but this doesn't work vs players"

Auto defend will switch targets.  If I remember right  just pull the health bar of what you want to attack, be in war mode and just constantly click the health bar, been a long time.
