I'm sure that is why. You can convert most of the robes. The Hawkwinds can be converted to a Tabard a Garg can wear.

..Wing armor is the 'back' slot.. you cant imbue for it because it would be like imbuing clothing, which you can also not do.. You can use an altered quiver or cloak for this slot.
-jumu's hide
-quiver of infinity
-despicable quiver
-shadow cloak
-rangers cloak
These are some of the items that can be converted to a gargoyle.
