And I am referring to "also" the Black Market....
The Beacons' Bug has hurt quite a lot the getting of Maritime Trade Cargos to turn them in for Rewards at the Black Market in Buc's Den....
Can we therefore hope that their existance, not just Beacons and Maritime Trade Cargos, but ALSO of the Black Market and its Rewards, will be further extended to "compensate" players for their reduced ability of earning and turning in Cargos for Rewards due to the Beacons' Bug which has not yet been fixed, that I am aware of ?
Thanks !
Marge, not everyone can play 24/7 and do all of the stuff you've done with their limited time in game. Imagine you only had 2 hrs to enjoy one night and 4 out of the 5 beacons you found were shoreline or server line (yes they keep firing near the server line too). Popps, while he does tend to go off the edge on his posts, isn't far off the mark on this one.
Sorry some of you are struggling with this. I just don't see an issue bad enough to not get as many crates as you want. It is rare to see a beacon butt up against a server line. If you do see one, move on, capture a pirate you see nearby. A new beacon will spawn soon enough.
If for some reason you only see beacons butt up against a server line or land, then go after merchants and pirates. The lower end cargo adds up quickly even with just one char.
Of course, that doesn't help if you are relying on 8 chars to shoot at a beacon for max rewards and you will get no sympathy from me.
In the meantime, I love having the seas pretty much to myself.
But as far as I am concerned, sure keep the Black Market Pirate up forever!
I'm not a fan of limited-time events like this, to begin with, so I'd like to see there be some way of getting these rewards after the main story arc has completed.
I gave my input re this bug in an email.
Forgive me for sharing that I have been doing fine with beacons.
Again, I only avoid the beacons right on the edge of land and server lines.
I play one acct at a time in classic client.
There is nothing else to try to help you guys with this.
Hope it gets fixed to your satisfaction. I did agree about not wanting the Black Market Pirate to leave.
I only wish I could play 24/7. I babysit during the day and have my own kids. I haven't been logging in til 7pm or later since this started. If you only get 2 hours and only find 4 to 5 beacons total, you are in the wrong spot. Even with buggy beacons, I can find and kill at least 4 good beacons in an hour. Again, call out in gen chat that you are sailing for beacons. The faster you sink the beacons the more you can sink in your limited time. Not everything in this game has to be soloed.
That few in Tokuno? Just south over the server line from Zento docks is one spot. Then you sail east past the the snow cap follow the mountain down and sail around that mountain island. Make sure you use 'Start tracking'. Half of those will be player boats but it can help find beacons if you are having trouble. In that area, there were many times two beacons would be side by side or another would spawn before the first one sank.
There are no good spots in tram.
Just shut it down already. They cant fix it and it just plain makes them look silly.
Not to stir the pot even more but I'm beginning to think the number of mythical cargo awarded per beacon has been lowered.
Even thou I have posted screen shots several times on the main bug thread showing locations of bad beacons I have no problems finding beacons that are not close to land. You do need to hunt for them. Some nights I find 1 or 2 beacons. Other nights I find 8 beacons. That is part of the fun of the game.
I just read all of the posts, can you at least tell us which one(s) you think are disrespectful ?
Thank you
I'm sure the thinking on the tmaps was "just release what we want to, they'll bitch awhile and then shutup."
Interestingly enough, I'm still pissed about it tho...as are a few others I know
LOL y'all give it up. Now everyone's upper level maps have converted to level 3's...
Perhaps they will fix that?
the beacons will still be there in Publish 106
and you will still get cargo drops
How has the bug severely limited their capacity when the majority of beacons can be found in deep water away from land and do not have the problem? Something like 95% of the beacons I've encountered are in deep water.
I've been hitting them hard all of last week, I would say 30-40% were either too close to land, near a server line, or stacked so close together that you couldn't complete them.
Yes, all of the rewards are still available from the black market.
you want new/returning players to leave and never come back? this has already happened because a number of things have been removed from game banes just off the top of my head, the high seas is a PAID for expansion that I paid for when I first came back to UO a few months ago, if they remove content I PAID to play then I expect my money back on all of my accounts that i PAID for this expansion of content on
o.0
High Seas expansion is clearly stated as to what it contains, and I do believe anyone who bought the expansion received that content.
The current EVENT ARC with new and different mobs/rewards (meaning the beacons, their drops, and the rewards you can get) is actually a feature of the game itself that is NOT directly related to the purchase of the High Seas expansion. As is the Bane, Ophidian Invasion, Undead rampage, destruction of Magincia... etc. Since the early days of Sosaria, temporary content is what helped make this game what it is.
What is wrong with having temporary content related to a temporary event or story arc which is what UO is known for and helps make it stand out in the mire of online gaming options? Other titles do similar, but their arcs are much longer and probably more elaborate due to the way the games are made - so it seems like the items are there forever. Season in Diablo serves up temporary rewards - do ppl complain about it? No, they look forward to the next season for the new set of rewards. UO, being a somewhat simpler game (in that respect) is able to put in and remove such content/events/arcs with relative ease (case in point, Halloween content).
Now... what would be interesting is if the beacon/pirate things come and go, (again, like the seasonal Halloween content) and perhaps new stuff added to the Blackmarket (which, by nature, would also come and go). That would, first of all, give some variety to the normal game, and give people something to look forward to (like, uh, Halloween). Maybe during the summer months, seafaring folk can deal with beacons and an uptick of pirates... after all, historical records show raiding was commonly done more in the warmer months of the year.
I want huge Viking ships and Valkyrie and more Celtic artwork!!! Will I get them, probably not - the Norse mythos doesn't really fit in with Ultima lore.
And, something to consider, maybe the devs are planning to make this a perma-feature of the game - so what if they don't make a huge announcement - maybe the entire thing is a test to something permanent in the future? Maybe they are seeing how players of the game (vocal and not) respond to this type of content.
Do you really need to KNOW everything right away?!
