What are your top 10 favorite artifacts?

What are your favorite top 10 favorite artifacts?  "Favorite" is pretty subjective.  Some of you may go for functionality, some of you may go for form, some may go for both.  That's ok!  Just make a note why you choose them.  If you want to get even more detailed and make a list by character template - go for that too!  Only looking for the pre-generated artifacts, nothing randomly generated!  Can be armor, weapons, or jewelry, or clothing for that matter!

Also - don't need to know that most artifacts "suck" and are "useless"  This is something we are certainly aware of and not what I'm looking for in this thread.

I have many favorites, but to just name a few...The cloak, sandels, and books from the roof.   tangle, crimmy, Dr Spec Lens.
#2
I build a  lot of suits so let's see ...

Clockwork legs - handy overcapped mod imbueable and enhances.
Cuffs of archmage - way too good to not use
Beastial set - fun gimmick and can be modified
Mace and shield glasses - same deal as cuffs way too good comparatively to not use.
Leurocians mempo - makes crafting luck leather suits easier with its higher resists.
Halo - not that I per say like it, it's just overpowered so always ends up in suits.
Despicable quiver - just good
Mask of Khal - looks amazing
Epiphany set - dragon armor is awesome, has an ability basically no one understands.  Sadly can't be enhanced and terrible resists.
Glenda - mace is king

I love items with odd quirks,  cryptic mechanics, niche things and i can modify.  Sadly I either have to just use new boosted stuff or suffer for my life choices.  Also damn you for taking necro away from the cuffs.

In general as a mage I like artifacts with Mage name or theme.
Although outdated property wise, and "not good enough" for todays armor I will list a few favorites:

Hat of magi  -It makes the mage stand out and be unique being a mage.
Staff of Magi
Illustrious wand of thundering glory, same reason great for mage but not good special moves and propeties to be in use.

Protector of the battle mage - was great at its time of introduction.

Shield of Invulnerability - right on theme with Chaos/Order which was a part of UO for many years.

Hooded shroud of Shadows - for someone playing necromancer this shroud fits right in that theme.

Minax sandals - fits with the theme of Faction system which was a part of UO for many years,  ShadowLords/True Britanians/Council of mages/ Minax. Good propeties also for multi-char use.

All items should have somewhat uniqueness and not too common.
What Id like to see more of is artifacts for specific character types, mages/sampires/warriors/archers/thunters/necromancer/tamer Not only the art but also the name being specific.

Staff of the Magi
Staff of Pyros
Ring of the Vile
Hephaestus
Aegis  (should have FC1)
Sign of Order
Burglar's Bandana
Shadow Dancer Leggings
Captain Quacklebush's Cutlass
Ironwood Composite Bow
Blade of Insanity
Brightblade
Pendant of the Magi
Small Soul Forge
Ring of the Soulbinder
Rune Beetle Carapace
Kasa of the Raj-in
Tome of Lost Knowledge

I know it's not an artifact but who didn't want Vine Cord Sandles?

#5
@Kyronix my list would depend on reasoning. Are you looking to revamp usefulness. Cause there’s some awesome older artifacts that could use it I’d pick above some of the newer UO to date ones. For instance, the Arctic Death Dealer was such a sick looking Artifact when it came out, so it would make my list for revamp, but not functionality. I don’t know if this makes sense.
#6
Scholar's Halo
Cuffs of the Archmage
Minax sandals
Cameo's
Crimson cincture
Ornament of the magician
Conjurer;s Garb (with/without luck)
Despicable Quiver/ Unforgiven Veil
Anon Boots / Shanty Water's (good to have choices in building)
Bleue Luck jewel set

I am all about functionality, if I cant use the items then they are worthless in my opinion.  I don't do deco or collection of things.   These are best of todays Items that are usable in Suits, everything else is built on random legendary gear.  I only use the Orny on shards I don't have resources for suits, its a good cheap piece for mageplay.
#7
@Cazador it's entirely up to you as to what makes your favorite list and why.  Has nothing to do with the context of revamps or anything.  I'm just looking to find out what your favorite artifacts to use on your current templates are, and why.
#8
blackthorns epaulettes, norse helm, and doublet - i HATE sacrificing fashion for functionality, but i find myself having to do it all too often with modern gear. Things like robes, cloaks, certain helm / hat styles, just dont cut it for me. would love to have the option to convert things like hawkwinds robe to epaulettes, or sacred hide to a quiver, or shift between different hat/helm styles.

Tangle is great, as are the various pieces of footwear. crimson cincture and ozy's obi are great.

despicable quiver is nice, even as a non-archer

spectors lenses and cuffs of the archmage are great, though again i'd prefer the option to convert the cuffs to leather sleeves for style purposes.

for readily available stuff, protector of the battle mage and kelp leggings are nice *and* inexpensive.

I'll put up the most played characters with the most settled kits. I am still finding a happy place for my Ninja. Do keep in mind, T-Hunting may affect a couple of these...

Kirthag - Paladin
(most fixed kit of all my characters, almost never changes)
  • Virtue armor set + cloak (the whole thing, always - is a paladin RP thing)
  • Soul Seeker (standard sword I use) will use various other Fencing or Sword artifacts while hunting, but always have the SS on me, and I have several more in storage - never know when will need it
  • Brightblade (second fave sword - need to repair mine and get more in storage, thanks for reminding me!)
  • Shroud of the Condemned or Cloak of Death (still debating)
  • Nocturn Earrings (for the night sight - personal bless deed - I know is not on the list of Artis)
  • Hephaestus or Shield of Invulnerability (if crafted shield dies - which is frequently)
  • Primer on Arms Talisman

Everything above is blessed, either as normal or with Personal Bless Deeds.

I want that first aid belt, not sure if that is an actual artifact, but it is highly desirable.
I am also on the hunt for the Crimson Cincture - I refuse to buy one. I won't wear anything on my main toon unless it is won.

My jewelry is typically crafted - but I swap them out so much for various things (luck mostly). I haven't settled on anything of preference from the artifacts I've gathered.

(Unnamed) - Pure Mage (template pretty much set)
  • Sorcerer's Set
  • Tome of Enlightenment
  • Bleue Set (ring & bracelet)
  • Conjurer's Garb
  • Earrings of Protection (poison) yeah, not an artifact, but there are no earrings unless you're a gargoyle
  • Totem of the Void or Mana Phasing - I'll flip between the two depending on how much of a challenge I want in a fight

The Black - Tamer (still tweaking this template - might make her my new T-Hunter, so arties may change)
  • Armor is crafted for various benefits (namely LRC & LMC)
  • Totem of the Void or Birds of Brit. Talisman (depending what am going after to tame)
  • Scrapper's Compendium
  • Nocturn Earrings
  • Alchemist's Bauble
  • Compassion's Eye
  • Pendant of the Magi
  • Robe of the Eclipse or Shroud of the Condemned

I don't own or use many artifacts and I've given up trying to play warrior characters as the gear is just too expensive.  So I'm mostly just playing crafters, treasure hunter bards, mage or peace tamers, and fisher/resource gatherers.  I used to enjoy playing thief/detector/trap remover characters in factions, but all the ones I made have been gathering dust since VvV was added.

Below are the artifacts I value (or would value if I had one) and why:

Artifact Trade-Ins:

  • Swords of Prosperity - Nice for my tamer because they have 200 luck, spell channeling, -0 mage weapon, and +1 faster casting
  • Tome of Lost Knowledge - +15 Magery, 8 Intelligence, 15% SDI, 15% LMC - Very nice spellbook for a mage.

Artifact Drops:

  • Shadow Dancer Leggings - +20 stealth, +20 stealing, and okay resists (17/4/3/18/18).  These were nice for my faction thief/trap remover.
  • Burglar's Bandana - +10 Stealth / +10 Stealing / +10 Snooping, dex 5, and mediocre (i.e., not the absolute worst) resists 10/5/7/10/10.  These were nice for my faction thief/trap remover.
  • 10th Anniversary Sculpture - Who doesn't want a luck boost?  My problem is remembering to use it and that the luck boost lasts 24 hours.  Would prefer it to be usable once per day and the use resets at server up.
  • Alchemist's Bauble - +10 Magery, 30% Enhance Potions, 20% LRC, 10% Poison Resist.  Not so unusual when imbuing came out, but I used to be pretty tickled if I got this as a drop in Ilshenar to use on a newbie mage character.
  • Pads of the Cu Sidhe - Most of my tamers are human, so I like to have these, even though I don't really use cu sidhes to hunt with very often.  This is the artifact I'd least want to lose because it is so essentially unique.   I don't like using elves for characters that have to carry loot because they have such low strength and this solves that problem very well.
  • Robe of the Eclipse / Robe of the Equinox - Nice for the luck.  Wish they weren't such a drab design.
  • Minax's Sandals - 150 Luck, 5% LMC, 10% LRC, -3 Random Resist.  Nice properties for probably any character.
  • Anon's Spellbook - Random slayer, 8 Intelligence, 15% SDI, 10% LMC, 10% LRC - Nice for a mage.
  • Hawkwind's Robe - 2 MR, 5% SDI, 10% LMC, 10% LRC - Nice for a mage.
  • Protector of the Battle Mage - 3% Casting Focus, 2 MR, 5% SDI, 8% LMC, 10% LRC, 10/16/10/8/8 resists.  Nice properties for a mage, has LRC and okay resists.
  • Venom - 2 FC, 1 FCR, 10% SDI, 20% poison resist. Nice combo for a mage with no penalties or wasted properties.
  • Lavaliere - 20% kinetic eater, 10% DCI, 10% LMC, 20% LRC, 15% physical resist.  Nice piece for a mage.
  • Tangle - 10% Intelligence, 2 MR, 5% DCI - Nice for a mage without taking up an armor slot.
Craftable Artifacts:
  • Scrapper's Compendium - FC 1, FCR 1, 25% SDI, 10% LMC - Very helpful for a mage. Hoping it is easier to get the ingredients to craft these now if you don't get many opportunities to do peerless hunts.
  • Pendant of the Magi - 10 Intelligence, 3 Mana Regen, 5% SDI, 10% LMC, 30% LRC - Very helpful for a mage if you can afford to give up the resists.
Treasure Chest Loot:
  • Mana Phasing Orb - Sometimes useful for mages.
  • Creeping Vine - Nice for deco.
  • Candelabra of Souls - Nice for deco

Cuffs of the Archmage
Minax sandals
Cameo
Crimson cincture
Despicable Quiver/Cloak of Light
Anon Boots or Shanty Water's
Clockwork leggings (being an imbuable item with 25dci option)
Mace and Shield Glasses

imo the important function of an artifact that genuinely gets used today, is that it provides something either you cannot get on your suit in other simple ways (ie HLD glasses, 5ssi on cameo, 20sdi on cuffs) or it gives you an overcapped item to build in for purpose (ie 20sdi on cuffs, 1fc on halo, 25 dci on clockworks), or gives you skill bonus in a slot that otherwise doesn't have any.

Most players will generally gravitate to a best in slot mentality, but options for those slots make sense. For instance, there are a ton of highly usable artifact items for item slot:

head
back
apron
talisman
robe

quite a few for:
foot
arms
legs

And very few for:
hand (feudal grips)
neck
tunic

and none in places like the kilt/skirt slot

I can tell ya though, you'd make alot of people happy with a hawkwidns robe that doesn't look like a hawkwinds robe lol.

I do see alot of "favorite artifacts" listed above, that i guess might be a players favorite for some reason or another, but doesn't truly have any function.  I dunno why u'd list an alchemist bauble jewel for any reason.  There is so very few uses of such an item.

One of the greatest times was when the "old, outdated" artifacts had the ability to be imbued.  It let players take those what i'd call "junk" artifacts, and made them functional again in a customizable capacity.  Players love options.
#13
Hmm
As for equipment I'd to go with:

1) Enchantress Cameo
2) Cuffs of the Archmage
3) Scholar's Halo
4) Bracers of Alchemical Devastation
5) Crimson Cincture
6) Minax's Sandals
7) Slither
8) Mace & Shield or Prismatic Lenses
9) Despicable Quiver
10) Armor of Fortune

Edit: I like these items because they're easy to fit into a usable well-rounded suit.

I agree, things like the Djinni's ring (Replica) was actually useful when it was imbue-able, there were others with use after being imbued as well, however many of them won't really be that great anymore since Global loot items and some of the other artifacts that had been updated since then.
#14
My list considers PvM only (and what I like about the item).

Sampire items:
Mace and Shield Glasses or Prismastic Lenses (for the HLD plus stats/damage increase)
Cameo (slayer, SSI, DI, etc) - If I can ever get more than one, I'll exclusively use these
Despicable Quiver or Ranger's Cloak (HCI, resist, dex or SSI)
Gloves of Feudal Grip (DI, stats, regens)
Animated Legs of Insane Tinker (SSI, DI, dex)
Britches of Warding (Stam inc, HCI, LMC)
Conjurer's Garb (DCI, MR)
Crimson Cincture or Ozymandias' Obi (HPI, dex or stam inc, str)
Corgul's Sash (DCI, Stam inc) - Honestly, it's mostly because it's the only dexer sash item

Mage items:
Scholar's Halo (SDI, FC 1, LMC, resists) - If I can ever get one. The drop rate on new artifacts is too low, but that's another discussion
Dr. Spector's Lenses (SDI and stats)
Pendant of the Magi (overcapped LRC, LMC, SDI)
Protector of the Battle Mage (SDI, stats)
Cuffs of the Archmage (SDI, MR 4)
Compassion's Eye (SDI, LRC, Luck)
Jumu's Sacred Hide (SDI, FCR, resist) - I believe this is the only mage-ish item for the back still obtainable. The DI on it is used for dexers, but the mix is kinda gross.
Tangle - Really the only mage focused apron item
Mana Phasing Orb - Again, the only mage focused talisman item with multiple mods. The Clean-up Brit items are ok if you rely on the skill bonus
Hephaestus (spell channeling, FC 1 (2), LMC, resist)
Vesper Museum Chaos Shield (spell channeling, FC 1 (2), FCR 2)
Hawkwind's Robe (overcapped LMC, MR)

For me, I look for items that have a clear purpose. It needs to be clearly for a mage, warrior, tamer, bard, etc. I think a better way of looking at it is; is this item meant for a spell caster or someone swinging a weapon. When items have a mix of both kinds of stats, it can become really hard to use it. Most of the time, those items are discarded or sit in a chest "just in case" and never get used. The random loot from spawn gives so many of these items, that having a solid artifact to build around really helps.

Some item slots only have one or a few items that can be used there, so they're used by default. I love SDI, so anything with SDI is used by default by my mage.
#15
I forgot a couple items earlier.

Lt Sash
Slither
Royal guard investigator Cloak
#16
Protector of the Battle Mage
Tangle
compassion's eye
cloak of death
Enchanted Kelp Woven Leggings
Bracers of alchemical devastation
Jumu's Sacred Hide

Dardens armor (when I don't have the above armor for my chars who need LRC)

when I joined my guild, they helped me out with putting together a suit..,
they told me what I needed and I went out and got the stuff needed...
and the above items are what I used in that suit (except the hide), until one of the pieces got destroyed at an EM event... and then I switched out pieces and use Dardens armor now (helps that I have a high SDI spellbook too)

#17
My magic users wear:
Hawkwinds robe
Dr Spectors Lens because I do not need the FC from Halo since I use protection,
Cuffs of the Archmage
Kelp woven legs
Those are for SDI
Wear Tangle for the Intel bonus.

We are missing good magic user items for: Gloves, Chest and Gorget  An new shield would be nice. I prefer MR over FC.
Also some footwear for a mage would be nice.

My Dexxers use:
Hunters headress for an archer.  For 20 archery and it looks totally hideous dyed in the 2 tone BOD dyes.
Prismatic lens over Mace and shield for the HLD and DI.  They look cool.
All wear Ozymandias Obi, Britches of warding, and gloves of feudal grip.

Dexxers are missing good Gorget, Sleeves, Chest.

Jumus hide can be used for a stat or 2 on many templates.
The orbs are good for many templates, also cameos for specific slayers.
The + dex boots are good.

#18

Shadow Dancer's Leggings: +40 to Skills. Seriously. Also leather, so appropriate for Stealth. Plus it looks good on my female thief. What? Don't look at me like that.

Headhunter's Headdress: Because it looks freaking awesome in the EC. You're wearing a deer....on your head. Also +20 to Archery.

Midnight Bracers: +20 to Necro and they are Bone Armor. Nice thematic item.

Blackthorns Woodland Belt: Looks fantastic. Have it in Tangle variant. Would get a Crimson variant for my fighter if he was an Elf.

Virtue Armor Set: Excellent for training with the Self Repair. Plus it looks damn fine. I love how it "completes" the set and gives you a different graphic.

#19
Enchanted coral brace - very underrated
Hunters headress
Spirit of totem
Crimson
Luck jewels from cleanup - needs updating
Hat of magi
Ornament of magician
Luck mempo
Prismatic lenses

Slim's veil even though I've only seen 2.
#20
Most of my toons are magic based - I have only one real melee fighter. (My first toon ever - a Swords Paladin which shall remain a paladin for nostalgic purposes.) Therefore, my list is pretty much mage based items.

#1 Compassion's Eye - For the 20% SDI and 250 luck.

#2 Hawkwind's Robe - For the 5% SDI. The other stats are nice but my mage suit that I built from roof drops has all that maxed out already.

#3 Jumu Sacred Hide - again for the 5% SDI

#4 Minax Sandals - For the 150 luck

#5 Crimson Cincture - For the 10hpi and 2 hp regen (I actually have this on my main mage since the stats on the tangle are already maxed from suit and jewels.)

#6 Tangle - I do wear this on my bard and treasure hunter for the 2 mana regen.

#7 Armor of Fortune - For the 200 luck and 40% LRC on my treasure hunter.

#8 Corgul's Sash - All but one of my toons wears this simply because I had so many and that slot was empty. The one toon that dosen't wear this is my weregargblin - it wears the bloody sash. (Just an aside - spell check wants me to change weregargblin to irregardless. 😂)

#9 Enchantress' Cameos - For my poor neglected melee toon. What's not to like about them? One day I'll get the other four I'm missing.

#10 - Invasion Spellbooks - Not sure if they are considered artifacts but they are probably my favorite items ever! ( I have all but two of the slayers and of course one of them being the Orc slayer.)
#21
For my main, which is a caster type:

Cuffs of the Arch Mage

Simply brilliant/cohesive all around

Jumu Sacred Hide

The sdi and fcr is great. Even the fire resist, poison eater. Damage increase helps when you carry a mage wep to kill that minor spawn that bothers you in one hit instead of two.

Lieut Sash replica

Looks great and has great caster mods.

Tangle

Has great caster mods.

Kelp Woven Legs

Looks great and has great caster mods.

Protector of the Battle Mage

Looks great and has great caster mods.

Invasion/Khaldun spellbooks

I don't have near a set, not even close, but the ones I have love em!

Epaullettes instead of robes of any kind, lest I forget! Which I did, thus edited.

Top 10 Artifacts Used:

1.Hawkwinds- it’s an easy way to pick up a few extra lrc/lmc on tight big stat increase suits(please change graphic lol)
(Where needed mage mostly)

2.Spell Focusing Sash- it’s great for building up and dumping burst damage.
(Most Mage builds)

3.Royal Investigator Cloak- the +20 stealth obviously
(Deathstriker)

4.Cuffs of the Archmage- +15 Magic Resist and +20 SDI like the fact it can be refined for resists and caps out sdi in PvP(also good for SDI PvM character)

5.Shanty Waders/Anon Boots- good for fitting in the last bit of hci or dci.

6.Capt John Hat- 20 skill and HCI make for useful suit building, a basic swordsman or a hybrid bokuto mage

7.Mark of the Travesty- the 20 skill helps build more versatile mages.

8.Cameos- for obvious reasons the slayer makes capping the damage modifiers much easier(used for sampires, and some pvp builds)

9. Jumus Sacred Hide -  the damage inc and for is useful for hybrid mages as well as warriors.

10 Slither-  used on many mage/dexxer temps in pvp for the hpi and dci.

Artifacts I wish I could use...
Legacy of the Dread Lord (such an awesome looking and sounding weapon)
Helm of Insight miss this ugly blue helmet on every dexxer
Arctic Death dealer.. I mean a glacial smackdown, who wouldn’t enjoy that?

honorable mentions
Scholars Halo
Daiymos Helm
Despicable Quiver
Helm of Swiftness

#23
All the above items and 1 Piece that I like is the Bronzed Armor of the Valkyrie
#24
My fantasy preferences are quite the opposite of my real world self. In my MMOs, form always trumps function. No matter how useful something is, if it looks hideous to me (mempos for example) then I will simply live without it. Rarity for the sake of rarity has little allure for me - but I will invest a lot of game time and effort into something pretty. Especially if it is pretty AND useful like the single tile soul forge. Most of what I enjoy in UO is either pure deco (with focus on things of a nature theme such as plants, rocks, water, etc.), or an embellishment of my character or pets. I love pretty clothing, things to enhance crafting, engravers, shiny pets and pet branding, the costumes, etc. My UO goals are all about building my character's skills, wardrobe, and home, and training up unusual pets to use in unusual and amusing ways. However, I suppose this thread is about artifact equipment. With that in mind, these are my most liked or most used artifacts:

Armor of Fortune. I find this bulky human armor to be rather unattractive, but it hides well enough under a dress. I wish it could be converted to a female version. Combined with a Lucky Necklace and a blessed event spellbook, I can use my one Siege Bless on this artifact and have 400 luck, 50% LRC, and some other useful mods. This is enough for me to run my template without any lootable gear on Siege for average day to day activities. This renders my game play all about fun and reward, with very little in the way of risk.

Smuggler's Edge: I dunno why, but I just enjoy rifling through monster's pockets for pretty lanterns while I am stabbing them. I wish lanterns could be Siege Blessed.

Pendant of the Magi: The treasure hunting revamp is going to make this item easy enough to craft for me to consider it disposable for the occasions when I do wear gear.

Nice thread!

Give me the weekend, to make a proper response. 🙂

7-Shanty Waders/Anon Boots- good for fitting in the last bit of hci or dci.
8-Capt John Hat- 20 skill and HCI
9-mask of khal ankur for the ep and 10hp

I’ve never even heard of quite a number of the artifacts being mentioned here. I’ll take one of each please.

Most of the artifacts I use on my characters were either purchased from player vendors or gifted to me. Way back when, and not for the lack of trying, I don’t think I’ve ever had a major artifact fall into my pack. Looking at the UO Guide I see some items I’ve found that fall under the Traditional Minor category.

So I guess favorites, in what I’m actually familiar with and using, would be:

Burglar’s Bandana

Cloak of Silence

Royal Guard Investigator Cloak

Shadow Dancer Leggings

Enchanted Kelp Woven Leggings

Runed Driftwood Bow

Hunter’s Headress

Dread Pirate Hat

Various Spellbooks (Conjurer’s Grimoire, Scrapper’s, etc.

Tangle

Crimson Cincture

Lucky Charm

Mana Phasing Orb

Mempo of Fortune (Although I hate the ugly face it gives you)

Enchantress Cameo

Various Quivers

I’m sure there are LOTS of artifacts out there that if I had them they’d become my favorites! But in general I guess, beyond looking to have 70 resists on suits, I’m looking for mana regen, rogue skill enhancements, and luck. Other than the Runed Driftwood Bows that my fisher / pirate hunter still uses, I don’t think I’ve ever used an artifact weapon. Imbued player made is better than anything I’ve ever found for loot.

#28
I'm going to add these because there's some funny things you can do with them.

Cloak of corruption
Evil orc helm
Bracelet of binding
Twilight lantern
Juka bow
Slayer Longbow
Gauntlets of virtue bane
Spell focusing sash

#29
I've posted my gear, but there is one artifact that I simply adore - must have every single one I encounter - and I was reminded of it while reorganizing one of my castles last night.

The Ankh Pendant.

Yes, it seems useless, takes up a slot with no immediate bonuses, unless you know about the Virtues, the history of the Virtues, and the hidden bonus this innocuous item grants.

A serious role-playing piece, that does give a short-term regen bonus if you know what to do, the Ankh Pendant was used by various guilds I was associated with in the past... the color of the pendant you wore stipulated your alignment, and guild-rank, and which virtue you were dedicated to.

We loved it, and the memories of my my most active RP moments are associated with this 'useless' item. At one point, hoping people would return, I had amassed a collection of 4 chests full of just this one item in all of its varying colors (there is more than just gold or silver). Its been a long time since I did serious RP, where more than a handful of people would agree to a certain set of rules for engaging one another. I lost all those ankhs somewhere, but still have a small collection which, by the by, does NOT go in the jewelry storage container...  Can this please be fixed?

#30
Shadow Dancer Legs- great for a thief. A TRUE thief can make great use out of skill point iems as the only other big requirements are dci hpr hpi and possibly hci

Mark of Travesty with thief skills

Slither 10 hp and 10 dci  on a tally is a great combo

Crimson Cincture goes great with a slither leaving only 5 more hpi for another slot.

Mace and shield glasses. Gives weapons more flexibility

Slims Shadow Veil- I saved my gold for 6 months a couple years ago and found one for sale on a safe. An imbueable neck piece with 1 FC is just awesome. It allows my 3k murder count to stay red while having having great weapon flexibility. I would hope this item stays extremely rare. It's the most expensive I have and my prize uo item. I'm not a rare guy but this is my crown jewel . I haven't really even pvped much the last few years but I still like building uber pvp suits for my toons.

Vine Cord Sandals
#32
My top 10:

1. Leurocian's Mempo of Fortune - LUCK!
2. Armor of Fortune - LUCK!
3. Crystalline Ring - This is my Siege Bless item.
4. Blackthorn version of Conjurer Garb - LUCK, and the Hooded Shroud is an awesome graphic.
5. Lucky Charm - LUCK
6. Corgul Sash - Good item for a slot that doesn't have a lot of options comparatively speaking
7. Ancient Samurai Helm - Love the graphic, imbue-able to tailor to my suit
8. Shadow Dancer Leggings - Always loved this piece, have used it a lot with Burglar Bandana
9. Spell Channeling Lanterns - Smuggler's Lantern, Lantern of Light, etc. PLEASE MAKE LANTERNS SIEGE BLESSABLE!
10. Skull Helms - EM versions, Halloween turn-in versions, one of the best graphics in UO

#33
Armor of Fortune: Luck, DCI, and 40LRC
Conjurers Robe w/140 Luck
Balakai's Shaman Staff - great -0 MU one handed weapon

Shadow legs/burg bandana/jewels/Ferret Form tali turns 50 begin steal skill thief into 120 skill
Buc Den parrot for deco 🙂

And +5 mining gloves which can be imbued/reforged to Mage Use and/or luck for saltpeter digging

This has been great, thank you to everyone who has participated so far.  This information will be very helpful in future publishes.

To summarize the top 10 artifacts based on those who have reported their preferences,

  1. Crimson Cincture
  2. Cuffs of the Archmage
  3. Enchantress' Cameo
  4. Tangle
  5. Despicable Quiver
  6. Hawkwind's Robe
  7. Shadow Dancer Leggings
  8. Jumu's Sacred Hide
  9. Minax's Sandals
  10. Protector of the Battle Mage

Interesting that very few weapons were listed.  Most reported items were either jewels, talis, or armor/clothing.

The days of using one weapon for everything are gone imo. Reforging/imbuing allows us to create better weapons for specific encounters. Any weapon I use will be 100% elemental with mana leech and stamina leech and either SSI or DI depending on my suit. The last mod or two will be a slayer, hit effect, or hit spell. There just isn't an artifact weapon that comes close to this. Even if it has more properties and "looks better", the damage output is always lower.

IMO, here is why each item you listed is there....

1. One of three options for this item slot and several peerless to get it from
2. High SDI
3. Slayer mostly, but also SSI
4. One of three option for this item slot, but also only mage/mana focused
5. HCI, dex, resist - best option for a warrior/sampire imo unless you need the 5 SSI from Ranger's Cloak, which isn't obtainable anymore
6. SDI - the other mods are nice, but nothing overly special
7. Stealth and Stealing +20 - only reason to use these on a cramped template
8. DI and fire resist for warriors or SDI and FCR for mages
9. Luck - one of a few options in footwear.
10. SDI - but overall it's a nice combo of mods while still not being overpowered

I have been asking for weapons every publish. They need the correct stats or they are not going to be used.

The gold whip is deco.

Give us a WW/double strike weapon, with 100% elemental damage(can make 5) with 70% hit spell, then make them super slayers.

Bam ... done... huge range of arti weapons, and peopke will use em, make em brittke, and keep the content alive to farm em.

Any other suggestions?

Any input on my appearance gripes?  Would LOVE a way to either transmute an item into a different appearing item of the same slot type, or a way to earn additional items similar to the blackthorn system. I *hate* robes, the various blackthorn epaulettes have been a huge plus for me. Would love to be able to have a wider selection of artifacts fit with the way i want my toons to look. Might sound dumb, but to me, appearance is pretty important.

Make Crafters Great Again
#40
@Kyronix Halawa's Hunting Bow might have made the list but the 60% Hit Velocity makes it useless since every time it procs, you don't get the slayer damage bonus and @ 60% it procs a LOT.
#41
Ironwood Composite bow is almost usable.

But like Halawas, they have velocity that reduces the damage and no HML.

Dont put stats like dex or stam on weapons because it makes them too specific for a Suit.
We should already have the suit to work with various weapons.
#42
Not Artifacts but both the knight and scouts set from  CUB turn ins should be imbue able ...

Like the old Blackthorn Kryss. A complete set of different slayers.

Don't have the time to make a top 10, but I want to single out one of them:

1. Leurocian's Mempo of Fortune (luck item)

Why? Because there is nothing comparable and I had to pay a 3rd party seller real dollars to get one for my T-hunter.

#45
My favorite artifacts of all time are:

(2003-2008) Warrior Suit
Crimson Cincture
Hunters Headress
Ring of Vile
Leggings of Bane
Jackal’s Collar
The Beserker’s Maul

(2003-2008) Mage Suit
Hat of Magi
Staff of the Magi , or Arcane Shield
Ornament of Magician

Only mentioning this because you asked, and because i didnt want to break the guidelines of the first post.

Most weapons suck (sorry i broke the rule!)

To clarify, UO hasnt had good weapons drop ever since imbuing replaced them.
even before imbuing, not many artifact weapons were useable.

Global loot also rarely produces useable weapons
exceptions - splintering for pvp
other than that, you hardly ever get a weapon with useable mods from global loot
Most people need combinations of:
mana leech, stamina leech, swing speed (for any weapon with a base speed slower than 3), to even consider using the weapon.  Then it has to be better than what can be imbued.

in about 5 years of playing, ive gotten a total of about 3 useable loot weapons.  Its because of how the reforging titles line up.  extremely low chance to get the correct mods because they come from multiple reforging sections.

Other actual artifacts worth mentioning:

soul seeker was good for a few years, has the correct leeches, but is too fast a weapon, low damage output.  it was made obsolete by imbuing.  still an ok starting weapon for a very new player.

brightblade and sword of shattered hopes were used very briefly becuase of the splintering (the staff was never useable, no good specials for pvp)

these were of course made obsolete by global loot splintering items with better pvp specials combined with splintering.

balaki's shaman staff is actually pretty good.  very underused weapon, but has a few issues which is why not many use it:

It has great mods for pvp mage, however isnt ideal because it can be disarmed.  last thing you want is to lose your 25 EP if your disarmed (the time you need that EP most)

For pvm, most would go with SDI on a spellbook for the hand slot.

Hopefully that can shed some light on arty weapons, and why not many use them.
Most suffer from the same issues as the obsolete armor arties.  wierd combos that arent really useable by any type of specific template.

Also noting that the Krampus whips were a success.  a base weapon with something that cant be gotten elsewhere (1 handed whirlwind weapon for macing and fencing, the swords one isnt quite as good because we already have radiant scimatars, but AI is a better special on the whip than the radiant scimatar bladeweave)

Overall this is probably what people want.  weapons with no mods, exceptional and can be imbued.
Other very successful weapons would be 1 mod that cant be gotten by imbuing, like splintering, swarm, etc, but with the other 4 slots open for imbue.

Take the whip of plundering, there is a chance that it would be used if it only had the explosion property.  and then players could imbue the other 4 slots.

Thanks for asking for the feedback 🙂

I agree, an impossible to get item other than on atl. Nothing else compares to it for a luck suit. I would even buy it from the uo store if available.
#48
In regards to weapons the crafting and imbuing ability is king for pvm.
In a world full of legendary artifacts and arties (in other equipment slots) I don't see this as a bad thing.  It at least keeps our smiths somewhat useful.

But if you were to consider making a competitive weapon artie here's a list of mods that i would find most useful (from greatest to least) on my pally  :#

Hit Mana Leach 81-100%
Hit Life Leach 81-100%
Random Super Slayer
Hit Area Effect 50-100%
Damage increase
Hit spell 50-100%
Hit Stamina leach 50-100%

The top 3 weapon specials are...
    -Armor ignore or Double strike
    -Whirlwind attack

The top 5 mods is how i make my weapons.  The life leach is high on the list for me because it helps my pally hang with the Sampires but it wouldn't be as much desired for those that do play samps.

#49
I agree 100% with Smoot.

Fortis said:

So are items with over 8 mods.
#52
I was never lucky enough to get one but i would say that Slims shadow veil is my favorite because it can be custom made through imbuing.

Would love to see more imbuable drops.  The guantlets of anger would be a perfect example if it could be imbued.

If you release new cosmetic appearances for items like crimson cincture or others that have improved versions in VvV can you please make them the VvV quality item so it's not a downgrade to use?

I think it would be best if you made the VvV reward artifacts what their actual versions are and make the real artifacts the VvV quality items.
#54
Bo's favorite arties are the VVV arties.  You should really put them back on Siege!
#55
Mark of Travesty
Captain John's Hat
Shanty's Waders / Anon's Boots
Hephaestus
Hawkwind Robe
Hunters Headdress
Balakai Shaman Staff
pendant of the magi
fey leggings

these are some of the artifacts that I personally feel could benefit from new cosmetic appearances.
#56
My favorite artifact is the "Turn your Grizzled Mare into a 5 slot pet" wand, it hasn't been invented yet, but it will be my favorite once it is.
#57
L. Mempo
Armor of Fortune
Minax Sandals
Lucky Charm
Minax Sandals
Either clean up jewel set.
Luck BT Robe

I am a Max Luck Suit addict 🙂

Would also like to see the artifact that reverts ore and wood to static instead of random. Like Garth's Griz Mare wand it has not been invented yet but maybe some day................. You can make Muling Great Again for us non scripter miners and lumberjacks.
#58
Why cant we imbue the older artis to make them great again?  and shouldn't they have a higher base weight?

transmog

I can't remember if this was explained in a newsletter or if it was at a meet & greet.

cant be an impossible thing can it?  put some NPC up , that let you trade your hat of magi for some other type of hat,   or your armor of fortune for a similar platechest ,
can be a great goldsink aswell

it def would be needed with Hawkwind's, as it taken over the game completly

yeah but that was what he was looking for go see other post from kyronic test center from quickblade

100% of players here posted their artifacts liking in order of utility not design anyway , Idk why would Kyronix think when we like an artifact it's for its style design. This bring me to my post on test center category where Kyronix says players sometimes like and wear artifacts for their style.
That just make me lol , who wear artifact for their style in 2019 , do you wear a crimson cincture for its style or its stats comon.
Tho new design feature coming, bring hope to a future new design for this horrible Hawkwind's Robe, so my fingers stays crossed, maybe after the crimson revamp , we will get a Hawkwind revamp :P

I can firmly say I'm in the camp that prefers styles over statistics. One of the things I absolutely despise about current UO is how the power shifted from crafters to random loot drops as far as wearables go.

That said, not sure if this thread is still being checked, one thing I wish could be given some form of upgrade is the virtue armor set. Just because of the nature of the virtues in relation to ultima online .
#72
I wear Transparent Heart (blessed earrings acquired from a Virtue quest) all of the time. I am also in the habit of wearing my shoulder parrot as often as I can (i.e., when the robe stats don't make a measurable difference in the scenario I am facing). Same goes with busting out Smugglers' Lanterns and rocking a cool hair do.

People don't play for the same reasons or in the same way.

Not talking about The Eodon Armor sets. They are good.

All of the Armor sets could use a revamp.  Sorcerers armor is the only one that is still used. They all need to be able to get to 100% LRC and 70s resist with the set and basic crafted pieces. Then give good template specific bonuses.  Some of those look really cool when you complete the set.

Collecting sets can take years. They need up to date bonus stats.

Wow. Long thread.  Must be a really good question!

I love my standard arties used by my bread and butter warrior:

* Crimson Cinture
* Primer on Arms and Damage Removal
* Corgul's Enchanted Sash

She's high-tier.  Not sure how she can be improved further.

Cheers.
#75
Imbueable artifacts, because you can adjust them for your suit
#76
I personally, really like the Ornament of the Magician.  Great concept but it needs to be improved upon though; loot artifacts are in most cases much better than the Orny.
#77
I know these are probably not considered powerful or maybe even "good" by today's standards but I still think the Crimson Cincture and the Tangle are some of my favorite items. I haven't gotten an Ozy's Obi yet, but those look good too.

Personally things I'd like to see more of are earring slot items, and some more intricate artwork on things like robes or the apron slot items. Imagine some pretty stars on a mage's robe? Or intricate web designs on something like the Tangle. Not saying those particular items need the artwork but would be nice. Maybe make them a dye treatment that players can craft or peerless monsters can drop as loot.

I wouldn't say peerless monsters need a bump in difficulty but maybe add "Extreme" versions of some of them as a test sample maybe. Like when you farm the keys when you go to turn them in for a master key, maybe when you choose to click to enter the peerless you get an option to challenge the extreme version for new loot or prizes. Ok yeah I'm going off the topic of the discussion I'll shush now.

I don't know how I forgot to include the invasion spellbooks. We definitely need a chance to get them again. I'd even argue to make them imbuable but I think that's another discussion.

Leurocian's Mempo. My hands down favorite artifact/unique item. I wish there were more unique Luck items.

enchantress' cameo for me

Artifact "an object made by a human being(s), typically an item of cultural or historical interest.". Hmmm..... I pick Kyronix!
#86
Hey, @Kyronix happy to see you guys are looking into artifacts!

I have many favorites, but I'd like to also explain why 🙂

Any + Skill artifacts always make me happy.  They enable unique builds that wouldn't normally be possible.  Mark of Travesty, Midnight Bracers/Cuffs - these are the type of items I'm talking about.  Also, of course, I like how the # of skill vs. properties is balanced.  Of those 3 I'd say cuffs would be most lucrative with the SDI, resists and mana regen.  As far as balanced, I'd say the cuffs were unbalanced compared to the other two.  If I had to change any of them I would buff Mark and Bracers instead of nerfing Cuffs.

I also like armor artifacts that have weapon properties on them.  Mace and Shields are an excellent armor item that opens up a property for your weapon.

The same applies to FC/FCR right... having a Halo will open up slots on my jewelry.

I personally use Clockwork Leggings in many of my suits because it enables me to build a suit be refined and easily over-cap DCI without having to sacrifice a bunch of other pieces for DCI.

Last two... Crimson Cincture and Slither - I look at having +25 hit point increase as a requirement on all my suits as most other people do who PVP as well.  These items allow me to sacrifice hit point increase on armor which then leads to fitting in artifacts with +skill increase or mace and shields for an extra weapon property.

Basically I'm just really into unique build-enabling artifacts that aren't so unbalanced they become a requirement to every build like the Ornament of the Magician once was.

Jewelry with eaters, armor with casting/weapon mods, etc.  These are the type of things that excite me.

Thanks ❤️
#87
Also Orc Chieftain Helm, 30 HCI on an armor piece opens up a lot of opportunities on other pieces.
#88
A few that come to mind...

Mace and Shield Glasses - Must for all my sampires with the 30% HLD - its the only non weapon to get that mod and sampires are all about hitting as often as possible to leach.  Wish it had Dex increase, Stamina increase or HCI or DCI but can't have everything....   Also wish the community collection to get it wasn't such a grind.  They changed the number of shields to donate such that only a scripter can realistically do it.  Donating 80k shields is just stupid.  Let us donate other items or artifact.  I mean, give us 10,000 points for other artifacts and let us trade up. Fix the community collections already. They are dead for no good reason.  <End Side Rant>

Burglers Bandana - Use it on all hider/stealthers.  You can bless with CBD and it gives you +30 skills.

Swords of Prosperity - Use it on all low fighting mages.  Spell channeling, no mage penalty means I can use mage skill for weapon/defense.  has 200 luck. Not perfect (can get 190 luck blade and shield for 380) but I'll trade the extra luck for the mage -0.  Use it on thunter for example. He doesn't really fight but it allows him to use his 110 mage skill as defense and adds to his luck suit.

Tangle and Crimson Cinture - Can't beat the mods for an otherwise used slot.  Tangle for casting and Crimmy for fighting toons.

Cong Garb - One of the best robes.  140 luck, MR 2 and DCI 5.  Great for thunters again for luck suits, good for casters and even fighters.

Soles of Providence - Only way to get luck on your feet for luck suits (all thunters).

Soul Seeker - Great sampire whirlwind weapon with mod caps and combo you can't craft - however I wish it didn't have life leech.  Why? Sampires leech already from hitting. The leeches can't go off all at once so from the weapon I need stamina and mana - not health. Life leeches slow down how often mana and stamina fire - It would be MUCH more useful if you could remove that property.

Pads of the Cu-Sidhe - I dont want all my tamers to be elves.  Wish they allowed taming Cu's as well.

There are any number of old artifacts (marties, doom artifacts etc) that are completely useless. A 80 imbue character can make a better item.  They need serious remedial help to make them even moderately useful.   This should be the very FIRST place to revamp and make doom and martie dungeons useful again.

Example :
Voice of the Fallen King
(Condensed)voice_of_the_fallen_king
Artifact Rarity 11
Strength Bonus 8
Hit Point Regeneration 5
Stamina Regeneration 3
Physical Resist 2%
Fire Resist 4%
Cold Resist 18%
Poison Resist 3%
Energy Resist 18%
Strength Requirement 20
Durability 255

I can just about craft that and have imbue points left over.

Str 8 can be imbued, HPR 3, Stam 3 imbued, and 45 total resist?  I get better from a thunter chest.

Bump this to 10/20/15/10/15 resist and include LMC 10 and Stamina 10, Replace HP regen with HCI 5  and this is immediately useful.

Any chance we can get a replica or Lord Morphius Epaulettes as a reward in the near future?  This is a best in slot item that many people have that I don't have.  (I came back as that event was raging).  I'm going to trade for one but the insanely high value of this item for Sampire's can't be understated.

#90
My 10 favorite artifacts are items that cannot be stolen and are blessed, and have little to no "use" and yes, you read that right.

Like those with +10 Alchemy, +10 Cooking, or maybe even +10 Blacksmithy or Tailoring.

I would love to see a little more love for craftsmen or their skills once again. No super skills and stats for invincible warriors/wizards/tamers who whine all the time about statistics, their pets and their none-visible effects, but to support the normal craftsmen who try to go about their everyday business.

Thank you, very much.

Hat of the Magi and Staff of the Magi are my favorites. They just made the game in the early days, and still work and look great on avatars inside gameplay. Overall though, I do not really care about artifacts in general, unless they fill a roll in gearing up a character for gameplay. So, I would have to say my favorite items are actually not artifacts, but rewards, like the series of glasses, especially Mace and Shield. They look good and suit up a character just right.

What would I like to see - actually, slow upward arc of development in the variety of items in terms of style, but not in power. Items would be harder to attain, and have less attributes. Artifacts should actually have some reason to attain them other than sitting at Luna Bank looking like a Soho cathouse greeter. Artifacts should not have everything under the sun that one particular character wants or needs. It truly should be random.

Why not a greater variety of shoes? Such as a pair that are white when they drop and look like a pair of Jordan's. They let you run as fast as being mounted. Not sure how Dismount attacks would figure into this. I guess you could be knocked out of them and they would pop into your bag giving you no more benefit for a few moments or they would drop to the ground and be stealable, depending on Trammel or Felucca ruleset.

We have woodland belts for elves. Why not a Codpiece of Orcish Kin? Simply adds a random 1-3 Resist to Physical or other category, maybe even a bit of Luck. Nothing too powerful, but styles you up with some benefit.

More shorts. A pair of hotpants that adds stamina and character when flying through Yew.

High heels. Imagine the look of danger from a fine pair of stilletos that adds Damage Increase.

A simple breastplate. Small, so that you can be mostly down right plain shirtless, but adds lots of protection, along with a special property or two. The key here is shirtless.

More helmets with horns. Helmets with horns just look cool. Again, some fine resists, but only a couple of additional random properties. None of this Legendary class drops.

More jewelry in the necklace category. Maybe even looking like the one Gerald of Rivia wears. The one with the wolfhead. Lots of Resists and a random benefit like the Ninjitsu animal form skill sets in when wearing. Again, the major benefit here is going shirtless.

A special dye that drops allowing you to dye your underwear. That would be the bomb.

Gloves. A pair of killers that add to Wrestling and in themselves cause massive Damage Increase. Don't need a weapon. You could call them Knuckle Slips of Tyson. They could look like those massive mits Bruce Lee wore in the opening sparring scene in Enter the Dragon. Would cause screen notifications like, "You stammer around senseless not knowing your name."

Hairbows...with whatever. Set those paperdolls up fine.

Totem of the Chihuahua. Small but deadly Totem that when featured on the paperdoll makes a small pet that helps you out in battle. Not a lot of help, but like adds some damage increase and barks alot, driving foes into paralysis for a few moments.

I got some more, but the surf is up.

A Shepard's Bota. Would work just like the First Aid Belt, except store Greater Heal or Cure potions. Would be in your pack when you resurrect.
YES
Just make it hold any potion you want and it becomes Bola of (potion name) and place it in the store for 100-200 SOVs.  Good for UO and good for the players.

And make it a fine gold purse, I'm talkin' fine. Give it some frills and lace that is dyable and totally wantable.

And while we are back at it...how about,

A Rapier – Fencing needs a weapons update. A rapier that matches the Swords skill Soul Seeker, but different and special. Like, plus 10 to dexterity when armed. 100% poison . Damage Increase. No Swing Speed Increase, but 100 % Stamina Leech. 2s speed like katana. The rapier's look is also the epitomy of killing in style.

An Armable Standard. Primarily used by guilds as a healing and resurrection radius. Character that carries it can not attack when bearing the standard, but can defend  Will raise those screen shots of guild wars up a notch. Totally selectable and dyable like Banner Deeds.

Flower basket. Hell yeah! Why didn't I think of that. If we can carry a lantern, why not a flower basket. It can give some minor defense..100% Poison one time cast onto any attacker. Goodness! Imagine. Visualize with me, going into Despise Champ Spawn and being raided by a hoard of Reds carrying Baskets of Flowers in one hand and a deadly new Rapier in the other. Hmmm! Sweet.

I would like to see a "usable" version of the Asclepius staff....

https://www.uoguide.com/Asclepius

As it is, NO Warrior, in their sane mind, would use it as a weapon.....

Therefore, it remains totally unused.

How about, having it work that it was to still provide its healing bonus (stackable with the enhanced bandages and First Aid Belt healing bonuses) by holding it in one's own backpack, rather then having to hold it in one's own hand ?

There is really no chance, as it is, that any Warrior would use this over any other Weapon 100% Elemental damage, with Slayer and all that.

2 Suggestions for a back slot and belt slot artifacts :

-Golden Cape (back slot)
150-200 Luck
Nightsight
5% Random resist

-Girdle of Chance (belt slot)
150-200 Luck
2 Mana Regeneration
5% Spell Damage Increase

I want to see a Fishing Pole of Prosperity. Same stats as Swords of Prosperity, but in Fishing Pole version. That SC/-0 Mage Wep would help fishers out. Make it a new high end reward from the Fishmonger quests.

I'm a fan of items with abilities (like the Hildebrandt Dragon Shield), or the oldschool pre-AoS style Charge items (Mask/Pendant of Khal Ankur was a step towards this). Introduce some that would recharge over time while worn, or need to be recharged with a Runed Switch (make these actually useful).

I want to see a Dragon Helm Artifact that allows you to do a Firebreath attack, like Reptalon Form from Talisman of the Fey (Reptalon) allows.
Dragon Gauntlets that either has a charge (like short 30-60 sec recharge) or a % chance to proc the pet ability "Inferno" (deals fire damage while lowering Fire Resist by 1/4th for several seconds) on attack.

How about a Spiked Shield artifact, that has a single Blood Oath charge that recharges every 180-300 seconds. (PvPers would love/hate this).

An Ankh Earrings/Talisman that has rechargeable Bless charges (Warriors and Tamers without Eval would love this, especially as Earrings). The strength of the Bless would scale up with Karma (minimum of +8% to all stats with any Karma, +10% to all stats at 10k+ Karma, +11% at 20k+ Karma, +12% at 30k+ Karma).
Have a Chaos/Skull Earrings/Talisman with Curse charges, that scales up with negative Karma (minimum of -8% to all stats with any Karma, -10% to all stats at -10k Karma, -11% at -20k Karma, -12% at -30k Karma). Curse items used to have the affix "of Evil".

A Talisman or imbuable Ring with a Teleport charge (60 second recharge).

A Gnarled Staff with like 5-10 Gate Travel charges (needs to be recharged with Runed Switch).

Wands with charges like Corpse Skin, Ethereal Voyage, Animate Dead or Paralyze (these used to have the affix "of Ghoul's Touch").

There's a whole lot of ways to introduce cool/useful new items, other than just ramping up the stats.

One of my favorite items in UO is the Captain John's Hat with +20 Swordsmanship.   Going back a number of years, I have felt this item opens up some much needed skill points, which is especially crucial if you're trying to build a top tier Sampire or Paladin-Warrior type template.    While that particular style of play has come quite a long way in the last 10 years with the addition of other awesome new items...  one thing I was always surprised about is why isn't there a "Captain John's Hat" version for Mace Fighting or Fencing?   It would be something cool to consider as a future event reward and also open up some template diversity in the melee fighter area.

But then one can't profit from the swords mastery. When you use the hat, do you use the bushido mastery?

@merlin I have been doing some testing with fonts. If toggle you toggle into html view and use the code
 <"span class="post-font-size-large"></span>
it gives this result

and if you use the code
<h3></h3>

it gives this result

both somewhat less intrusive than using the H2 heading code from the drop down list

For the builds where I use the Captain John's Hat, I generally use the Bushido mastery.  I find myself using the scaled up Confidence heal more than Onslaught.

cool! I'll try it on a new char I'm building  🙂

I think it's time to get a rerun of the Mark of wildfire as a drop or reward from some tot event.

Grand master or legendary crafter gear. Loved those most. Silver weapons were cool too and then all those magic items from t2a era. Best things in those all was that they didn't have wall of numbers added. Virtue articats and paragon artifacts are nice too. Doom artifacts used to be cool get.

What?

I think they are saying there should be a recipe that uses Armor of Fortune to create an upgraded item (like scholars halo). I'd agree with that. It's been 15-20 years since AOF has been around and while it's still the highest luck chest piece around, the mods are lacking. On the most recent luck suit I created, I went with an imbued chest piece (190 luck) to give me more resists/mods.

No gargoyle version

I like Stone shoes, too lazy to use them though, I would like a version you can move in.

VVV crimmy, pretty much all the vvv stuff is nice even the deco.

Ethereal llama is great, a kangaroo would be cool, with a pouch you can store things in and it can box so you can use it to attack ppl.  :/

BOS is cool I never use them but like the concept, do they work with 120 ps?

All the books for ps, alacrity scrolls and pinks, be nice to have a storage system similar in chests for woods, ores, ingots, etc

The ships, Have had a few brit ships over the years and a whatever the fast one is, I would like a harbour spot you could park in so you didn't have to refresh your ship and maybe be able to live on your ship instead of a house, have vendors, ect

All the silver weapons back in the day, silver katana of vanquishing, so, cool.

I liked the UW boss concept but am not a huge fan of the loot which is just armor and crap, I would like so see new UW places with different bosses and loot.

Pets are awesome, love skrees, cu's, I would loved to see rideable dragons or drakes one day.

My favourite artifacts in game are the players, aged, old, decrepit, cheating in a twenty five year old game nobody cares about.

Armor of fortune. Could need little update though

Solaria's Secret Poisons - expensive and hard to get, but reward is huge. 10 HCI helps removing it from Jewelry and makse more space for skill poins
Sentinel's Mempo - perfect item for warriors. A lot of stats, good resists, LMC and thew most important HCI and DCI. It's one if not the best item for warriors in the whole
Lord Morphius' Epaulettes - 10 SSI in this slot is unbeatable in this slot for warriors
All new talismans with slayer types (An Bal Xen, In Corp Mani Xen etc.) - great alternative for Cameos

So what next reward I would suggest? Some alternative to best in slot items (like Gloves of Feudal Grip have Gloves of the Holy Warrior now). For example Sentinel's Mempo or Balron Bone Armor could have some alternative item which for example could have skill bonus instead of stat bonus. Would be interesting to see some new item with +10-15 Anatomy skill increase. We have talisman with skill bonus, but vs Slayer type talismans it is no competition at all.

Axe of the heavens, coolest arty ever!

  1. Cuffs of the Archmage
  2. Honorable mention is Helm of Insight, eventho it doesnt hold up to todays standards.

My favorite artifacts are ones that increase my combat skills as an Archer Chiv Tamer, like HCI, SSI and Stats. I usually wear an SSI Serpent Quiver or HCI Quiver, some HCI Talisman like Soldiers Medal. For a Belt I go for looks and usually use the Mark of Destroyer and get my stats up with a mix of Crafted Dragon Armor with HPI or Dex, Stamina and Mana or looted Artifacts with mana regen on them. Mana regen is very important.
#125
I like to keep my stats in the same range for all my characters, Usually 130-140 strength, 180 Stamina and 80-90 mana with good mana regen on armor.
#126
Mine are going to sound dumb, but I like the virtue armor set, Dupre's shield, and Holy Sword. They remind me of the old Ultima games. They are the reason I joined Ultima Online back in the late 90s lol. I always make a paladin each time I return and try to make this set and template viable, it never really works out, but I always make a character dedicated to the warrior or paladin build with this armor set even if it will never be able to do much because it reminds me of old Ultima lol.
#127
The virtue armour helmet is the best looking helmet in game, the virtue armour was also my favourite way back when.

My Horselord bows in terms of something that’s useful - they are apparently worth a lot more now than when I bought a bunch of them many years ago, and it was a pleasant surprise to find that out when I returned,

They aren’t artifacts, but I still like that I’ve got something like 100+ moonstones in the bank between a few characters,  I have no idea what they are worth, and they can’t be used anymore (except maybe to tell the phase of the moon), but they remind me of the (awesome) insanity around Trammel opening up.
