No Stratics for atleast 2 days now.

Maybe they finally decided to throw in the towel? Would be a smart move as that website has been dead for years. I went there a few months ago and UHall's 10th newest post went back 3 weeks. They should close it down for good if they haven't.

There's too much information there the developers need to get over it and get the info moved or linked

Not sure what the drama is between UO Stratics and UO because of long absences from playing.  Whatever it is, there is information in the Stratics forums that I cannot find anywhere else.  It would be nice to have that resource available.

Its back.

My sense of these fan sites that go up and down is that I need to start archiving the info.

First time stratics has had this issue.  Had a Ddos attack this year.  Normally it stays up.

I would guess it's as simple as Stratics promoting third-party clients and third-party shards, which is banned by the game TOS and by the fan site listing TOS.

That's actually not it at all.

Super high level summarizing here, but I believe there was some sort of fallout between Mesanna and Stratics when she was producer (over 10 years ago) where she wanted full control of what was being posted; the owners of Stratics at the time said no. Understandable given the way things are moderated there versus here. That being the case, Mesanna didn't allow any of her people to post on Stratics anymore. I believe ownership has changed since then and they've publicly said they have reached out to Mesanna multiple times (before she stepped down) to mend the bridge but she wasn't interested.

If you are interested in story (from the Stratics Mods) it's on Stratics somewhere.

That’s nice, but that’s 10 years ago, and here in 2025, Stratics hosts forums discussing illegal clients and third-party shards, which are a no-no per the TOS and per the original fan site TOS.

And that’s standard in the industry - back when Blizzard had a similar program. I had a site in their listing as well (and an UO fan site on the UO official listing) and it was made very clear that illegal third-party software and shards were forbidden.  In fact, Blizzard even filed lawsuits against both tool and shard developers, and they are still involved in such lawsuits.

I made the suggestion on Stratics that they should ditch those forums discussing third-party clients and shards and then reach out to Kyronix.  Those specific forums are pretty dead anyways and can’t be bringing in much traffic

Time to mend fences no matter who's to blame. I wanted to look at the vast wealth of info in tamers forum and couldn't it would be inexcusable to lose this history

Of course they did that, and the devs did not like it, but was 100% justified for the team to leave that dogsh!t website and never look back. That website has reeked of corruption and collusion for decades. There have been dozens of controversies with that website with not only the devs/Mesanna, but with the EMs/EM program, even banning prominent members of the community for absolutely no reason. I wish I still had leaks of their inner forums... the dev bashing and other information they had posted there was crazy, linking member accounts to IPs of EM/Dev/GM accounts there, pocketing 'donations' to keep the site running, etc. The people that ran that site were some of the biggest scum players you could ever meet. Of course, let's not forget one of their biggest and most publics 'oofs' was banning JC the Builder aka the guy that owns/runs/built uoguide.com, (which is ironic because Stratics came and just ripped it off for their own wiki, an actual source of information) and the infamous 'list' of other prominent players the mods of that website were just jealous of and decided to ban, for absolutely no reason.

^ That doesn't even scratch the surface sadly. I could go on for an hour about the heinous stuff they've done, if only more people knew. Community my a$$. Good riddance.

@Merlin ain't that right?

Stratics has gone through several different management groups. Let's not blame the current team for the failings of the past? I'm going to call a halt to this.
