To play Devils advocate, It doesn't say anything about it decaying in the store when you purchase it and it doesn't give you a warning that it will decay when you place it. should be mentioned when buying and placing. I can see their frustration here.

I guess I just assume someone spending real money on ship has some basic knowledge of how they work..

You would think that something that could be lost due to decay would have that in the description, and/or some basic warning when placed. I don't know about you but everything else i buy has warning labels for dang near every danger, loss or other situation, you would think it would at least be mentioned somewhere in the store description or on the item itself. You know, Kind of like the EA store does when you are buying add-ons, it warns you that you must suscribe to the game to use it (or some similar message) The Player Wiki doesn't mention it HERE in a description of the Britannian  there's nothing in the EA store about it when you buy the High Seas pack HERE. There also is no mention of it from the Shipwrights when you buy ingame boats. So I will play Devils advocate again and say it's all well and good for us knowledgeable Vets, but what of the newer players. You mention that they should "have some basic knowledge of how they work" yet the majority of the places they would try to get that knowledge do not mention it. only HERE is it mentioned. it is difficult to find, even knowing what to look for. I can see their frustration.

How is a new player supposed to inherently have basic knowledge of how something works if the information isn't provided? The OP obviously wasn't using the ship because it decayed and disappeared. If they'd been using it they'd have had a chance to notice the message about it being refreshed when they hopped on.

Wouldn't it be helpful if when you place a ship you're given a message over the tillerman's head about the need to refresh it? And / or when you buy it have it land in your pack inside a pouch with a little card of instructions (Like when you get a set of teleport tiles).

Sorry this happened lolo.

Why do you assume they are new? UO has always been buyer beware ... and it's an mmo ask others..Google etc if he had a house and just set  down something he bought and it decays should it be replaced?

Exactly, nothing in the description of the item in the store...frankly, I am a total new player, and very disappointed, after 20 years playing MMO, I never faced such thing that I thought was totally impossible....Is there other items that I bought in the shop and will vanish for any reasons ?
#8
You asked questions about high seas in June you didn't read the info you were pointed to? And again every time you get on the ship to do anything it tells you the condition and or refreshes it ? Sorry but live and learn

I don't assume anything. I am stating the obvious facts that it doesn't say anywhere on the item, or in the store you buy the item, or the store where you buy the currency to buy the item, about it decaying. there is very little information anywhere about that ship being able to decay and lose your money. I am simply saying that maybe it could say that in a few more places to avoid mixups in the future Maybe?? as far as to whether they are new or not, I'd go with more likely new-ish than not, since they didn't know the ship would decay, as us old salts do . . .

There multiple items with uses, but i think the Boat is the only item that will go poof without being "Refreshed"

I vote he gets a refund.

@Community Manager can you verify this can not be refunded?

They pried my spell books out of the crate in my bank and put in my backpack.  They can pry a ship out of the water.

What shard are you on, i probably don't have a britannian ship there, but i likely have a spare Orc ship.

@Iolo

First, I want to extend my sincere apologies for the loss of your ship. Losing something you’ve invested time and/or money into is never a good experience, and I completely understand your frustration.

As a newer player, it may be helpful to know that there are several resources available that provide guidance on different aspects of the game. In particular, the Player Wiki includes a detailed section on ships, which you can find here:

https://uo.com/wiki/ultima-online-wiki/gameplay/ships-guide/

This resource explains the mechanics of ships and ship decay, which applies to all ships in the game. While I understand this may not ease the disappointment, it is part of the core gameplay system.

That said, I will recommend adding a note to ship listings in the future to clarify that they are also subject to decay. Beyond that, this is unfortunately all the support I am able to provide at this time.

@Community Manager

Could you please also recommend to add a check system for Stable slots increase Tokens purchases ?

The problem with Stable slots is that there is no way to easily and quickly see that one's own character is already at max of the Stable slots Tokens purchases "before" actully placing the purchase.

And, unfortunately, Stable slots tokens purchases are tied to the character purchasing them. They cannot be used by other characters not even in the same account !

When trying to place a Stable slot token purchase, the Client should check the character attempting to place the purchase and not permit it should that character have already purchased the max number of Stable slot tokens possible.

As of now, it is not so... it happened to me, and I wasted Sovereigns to purchase a Stable slot token which my character cannot use, having already purchased and used the max number possible... and no other character in my account can use that token. My Sovereigns were all wasted on this purchase and this, just because there currently is not a way that would block a character to be able to finalize a purchase of a Stable slots token when they already have purchased the max number allowed.

Thank you.

@popps The stable slot increase token is account bound not character bound.  I just verified by buying one with one character, logging out, logging back in as a different character on the same account and was able to use the token.

What has this got to do with the OP ship decay ?

stop hijacking other people posts with your bullshit

start a new post with your whining Popps. No-one cares about your stupid pet issues and they certainly don’t belong here. All you are going to do is grab more Kleenex and derail this post

just let someone else post their problems and you kept quite

You know you can say stablecount at the stable and see your max slots.  Skills and mastery adds some, you'd have to do some research tho.

And @popps all the information is HERE  or HERE, and many other options with a quick Google search. And as others have said, the token is account bound, not character, so you can give it to one of the many other tamers you have on that account.

And AI has the correct answer as well.

Hmmm... thank you, I knew it was not usable by another character on same account, I will try that out.

That is the one problem... with various things adding up slots towards the max possible, it is not exactly straightforward to see whether or not one has reached the limit of the max stable slots increase tokens usable... it would be handier if there was a way to see it, somehow without having to look at skills, skill points, masteries and so forth to figure it out...

And very easy to figure out. Knowing now that the maximum amount is 42, you can go to a stable with your Tamer and say “Stablecount” and if it doesn’t say x/42 and you have all the boosters and expansions and you are 240+ in skills, have Taming mastery 3, you can eat a token. If it does say x/42 you can’t.

It would be much easier, to my opinion, that when the character pulls up the UO Store and tries to purchase a Stable Slot increase Token, since the system knows how many tokens that character has already applied (and thus won't let that character use any other Token to increase the Stable Slots for that character...), if that character has already reached the limit, a Warning Message was to pop up saying that the Token will NOT be usable by that character... this way, without having to do all the math and perhaps also make mistakes while doing it, a player would know whether a Token that they are trying to buy can or not be used by that character, right away.

That is why I posted to the Community Manager... since I read about the suggestion to make a recommendation to put a warning when purchasing a Britannia Ship on the UO Store, I thought to ask to please "also" add a check system for how many Stable Slots increase Tokens that character has already used and, consequently, if at max Stable Slots increase Tokens use, a warning when buying Stable Slots increase Tokens so as to avoid for a given character to buy tokens which they cannot use, should they have already reached their Stable Slots increase limit.

That would be an awesome idea, if it was Character bound, not account bound.

@Grimbeard you good son?
No worry you havn't lost any street cred, you hvn't already.

Companies put on shampoo bottle, DO NOT DRINK.. cuz of stuff like that:
"The Quebec Consumer Protection Act (CPA) does apply to video game cash shop items as they are considered goods or services sold to consumers. While specific regulations for digital items like microtransactions are still evolving, recent amendments have strengthened consumer protection, particularly regarding durability, repair, and disclosure."

You'd have a 14 days window to do something if u were here.. the fact they using sovereign instead of real money wouldn't change poo. Even if you are not in Québec.. as soon they are adding the decay info on the cash shop.. even if they not.. depending on how you playing your cards and when.. you have ground to work on. I wouldn't accept the "CM" response here... that mesanna corporate culture..

Also, you might wanna look into a lighthouse (vet reward), if u paying good money for a brit ship.

PS: you are not getting mad at the right person.. assuming that ship decay is a core game design of UO... I mean yes.. but no.. it's like assuming everyone knows u can teleport on a boat using the key.. then assume u can do the same with a locked chest.

Here, you can even see grim aka McDougle in this clip:

Assuming he's gonna read 30 years of info on a wiki before buying stuff on a cash shop.. is NUTS!!

@ioio assuming a cash shop items would be P2W is a VERY good mindset.. a good way to be mislead. I feel you. Assuming it would not decay ain't nuts, imo.
