[Proposal Regarding Housing Maintenance Requirements in New Legacy Shard]

Currently, in the New Legacy shard (NL+JNL), even paying accounts are required to complete 15 town quests each month in order to maintain their houses.

While we understand the intention behind this policy—to address the "storage account issue" seen in production shards, where players maintain houses without an active subscription—we would like to point out an important difference:

In NL, unpaid (Endless Journey) accounts cannot own houses, nor are they required to complete any related quests.
As such, the burden of completing maintenance quests falls exclusively on paying subscribers.

This system presents the following issues:

• It forces a monthly labor obligation even on players who are actively subscribing.

• It undermines the convenience and time-saving benefits that typically come with paid services in online games.

• It risks discouraging continuous subscription over time.

[Proposal]

We respectfully request that the number of quests required for house maintenance be either significantly reduced or eliminated altogether.

We firmly believe that making this change will maintain the intended subscription incentives specific to NL,
while also improving the convenience and satisfaction of paying players.

My opinion on this is to leave the requirement in, without it the shard would end up like Siege. On Siege there are houses taking up spots and are not used. When they opened up the second housing rules on Siege, the shard was filled up and then no one but the regulars play the shard, just a bunch of empty house foundations taking up space. I would be okay with a slight reduction, but please do not eliminate it. maybe an even dozen. I can knock out that many quickly, especially if they put the "Kill 15 frost spiders" and "Destroy 5 webs in Frost Spider Cave" on the board at one time.

Personally, I hope that there could be a way to address these concerns through a much lighter requirement that demands less time from players.

Many of us, especially working adults in our age group, often have very limited playtime.
We would love to enjoy UO:NL even if only for a short time, but spending most of that time on house maintenance quests feels exhausting.
Also, I have seen many new NL players saddened by the sudden loss of their houses — much more often than on production shards.

I would love to hear more opinions from everyone about this.

Once dungeon blackthorn open you won’t worry about house upkeeps.

There are quite more quests offered than it used to, at least on NA NL I dont even look at house quest upkeep anymore, it’s always maxxed up.

not what i said at all. What i said was , Keep the requirement at some level. yes a lot of us have limited play time, I usually work 60+ hours a week at my job and then come home to do housework, upkeep on the structure, lawncare at my house, then at my elderly parents house, and my wife and i own a business. I somehow find time to play a little uo and keep my houses standing  on NL.

Are you saying that the quests received in Blackthorn Dungeon and the quests available in town both function the same way as requirements for house maintenance?

I had no idea about that, so thank you very much for letting me know.

Yes all bosses quests and kill 25 monsters at entrances of dungeons also counts for house upkeeps

probably a language barrier. I am southern redneck and it loses something in Translation. Yes, i am all for a reduction in the amount, but would want some upkeep requirement to stay. No offense was meant or taken. i tend to be straight forward and blunt at times. and we are neighbors, we went right for the Ice entrance it seems lol

I have been known to throw a pic of my journal into Chatgp to see what someone has asked me. It works well

It takes like an hour to quest and refresh the house: its really not a big deal.

Its a better solution than a shard full of houses for players that don't actively play NL.

Certainly, if it only takes about an hour to complete the quests and refresh a house,

it might be a very reasonable way to address the issue of inactive players’ houses remaining on the shard.

On the other hand, for busy working adults who cannot even find an hour a day to play,

securing that one hour can be quite difficult.

There are not a few players who would prefer to spend their limited playtime on adventures and socializing,

rather than on house maintenance tasks.

Since there are players in a wide variety of situations,

I would love to hear even more opinions so we can have a well-balanced discussion.

Through the discussions so far, I have realized that there are far more players than I expected who are concerned about the increase of abandoned houses.

However, I also believe that the pain of losing a house carries the serious risk of players withdrawing from activities in New Legacy — or even from Ultima Online itself.

I am very interested in finding rules that can balance these two concerns.

I would love to continue hearing more of your thoughts.

プレイ時間が少ない -> アカウントをあまり持っていない -> 1～2 人のキャラクターに集中する -> 友達と一緒にゲームを楽しむ -> 1 日に 1～2 つのクエストを実行する -> または、家を持っていなくて、すぐに削除されるサーバーで収集することに苦労していませんか?

Personally, I believe that New Legacy shards serve the following roles:

1. A welcoming environment for new and returning players
   It provides an environment where everyone can start from the same point without worrying about wealth disparities or complex systems.
   Additionally, the training speed is extremely fast, and skills and stats grow much quicker compared to regular production shards, making it easier to become combat-ready in a short amount of time.

2. A short-term "season-based adventure experience"
   The entire shard resets every year, allowing players to enjoy a fresh start and new adventures each time.

3. Rewards and transferring them to production shards
   Players can earn NL-exclusive titles, items, and achievements, which can be transferred back to the main production shards (Prodo) as a source of motivation.

The ultimate goal of this experience in NL is to increase the population of production shards.
