For context, I did not know about the change, and went trying to find a plot, doing my typical try to place a 7x7 and see if it fits, then go up from there strategy and literally took over an hour to get a house I could squeeze in, and this was on a "ghost " shard , not atlantic.
We will not speak of the obscenities I uttered while hunting on Atlantic. There are still flame charred scorch marks all over the moniter.
Congrats on stepping in as the new lead! Since you're open to feedback and fresh ideas, I want to raise a serious issue that desperately needs fixing: the current house placement system, especially for IDOCs.
Right now, one player — "nonono" — places nearly every house that falls. This isn't exaggeration, it's fact. They're running 30 accounts and placing every second. Regular players with 1 or 2 accounts have zero chance of competing. ZERO.
This isn't just frustrating — it's broken. The current system rewards those with the most accounts and scripts, not actual players.
It’s time for a better way. Here’s a simple idea:
Bring back a raffle-style system like the Old Magincia event.
When a house falls, put a “raffle stone” in place.
Players can click it to enter for a chance to claim that plot.
If they win, they get a scroll that locks the spot for 24 hours.
If they don’t use it, the area opens back up.
Yes, someone with 30 accounts will have more entries. But at least now everyone has a real shot. If 100 people enter, even the guy with 30 accounts has just a 30% chance, not the near-100% he has today.
Right now, there’s no competition. Just domination by a single player using sheer account volume. That’s not what UO is about. It’s time to level the field and make house placement fair again.
Thanks for listening — and really hope you consider this.
My first time posting on this forum, and I finally found a reason to.
I 100% agree with the post above. Devs, please we know you're super focused on New Legacy right now, and it feels like the normal shards have been left behind, but this really needs attention.
The current system is just unfair for players with only 1, 2, or even 3 accounts. There's no real chance against the guy who places every single IDOC... and he’s not even there in person! Hours before the house drops, you can literally see him recall in with 30+ characters at once, they all hide, and boom he gets the plot almost every time.
Please consider a raffle system, or like Mesanna once said, just remove the IDOC timers from the house sign. That alone would help a lot.

This is somewhat true but if we are going to tell it all let’s tell it all. For the longest time Atlantic realtor aka AR, Scribbles and joxer have ran the housing market. When they started getting beat by the ethy method they cried to mesanna to hot fix it so they wouldn’t be beaten by the competition. When nonono started using the pet ball and other house placers found out about it and ARs group couldn’t place houses anymore at free will. Well guess what, he cried to mesanna and that was hot fixed as well. See the trend here? ARs group have been making tons of RMT for more than a decade and one person is being blamed here which he only has been around for a couple of years. So let’s not just sit here and blame one person or one group of people for the problem. It’s more than just nonono. UO is corrupted for certain people. Of course they will probably delete my post because they are trying to cover up the corruption. The laziness from the GMs in this game is beyond me. It would be easy for a GM to ban 100s of accounts for breaking the rules but they are just simply lazy to do so. On top of that it’s sad to say but all the banable accounts is what keeps OSI alive.AnglesWings said:House Placement System Needs Urgent ChangeHey @ KyronixCongrats on stepping in as the new lead! This is the thing.. they does and still actively do.. when certain persons.. they does stuff like adding a cooldown on the house placement tools to help those person with a monopoly when they getting challenged.username said:The devs are spineless to do anything, don't expect change...

This would be very nice. Only one of my houses was placed by me because I can't figure out where to stand and click.ForeverFun said:While you (broadsword) are at it, change the server side placement code to do an automatic "best fit" in (say) all possible squares in a 3 tile radius from the attempted placement location, if the exact targeted location is a fail. It's beyond frustrating trying to find the right spot to place when there are avoidable obstacles.

The perfect gold sink would allow tree and obstacle removal for house placingUrge said:Pawain said:This would be very nice. Pre timer you could do what you think would fit and use the outline to adjust bigger. Now it takes a solid hour doing it that way.
I think this would make a great vet reward to survey the land and show what would fit
Nah, they should keep that trick up their sleeves to relocate legit people on another shard when they decide to make a good move.. The terraforming stuff on UO should not be for everyone nor a money printing machine.Grimbeard said:The perfect gold sink would allow tree and obstacle removal for house placing
You mean like a punch clock for volunteers? 🙂Mariah said:Can we leave the conspiracy theories out please?
Meh - Another "pay to win" idea I dislike. Next thing you will suggest is a 0 slot in store only mount. No thanks.Grimbeard said:Sell in UO store for 49.95 they would be able to hire another developer
