Perhaps some imbuing, where you can spend 5 hours killing stuff to get enough for one piece.
or some reforing where you dont know what runic to use, and what options to pick? How about some reforing, too complex? not for mages? well we got a guide for that! need a recipe for an outdated piece? too bad!

Welcome to a game where you cant craft shit without looking up a guide, or spend 5 hours killing stuff for imbuing.

welcome back new and returning player, dont get discouraged and quit.

You forgot to mention Refinements. 🙂

And Enhancements, and Gargoyle stuff.

Don't worry, they do. In my experience new players instead go play free shards and returning quit shortly after they come back. Mostly cited is rampant cheating usually in reference to boring global events.

Play NL, it is UO lite.  Or have a memory and bookmarks.

Somehow those who like the game play of UO have been playing for 27 years.

I guess it all comes down to whether or not you want to invest the time in crafting or not. and as far as having to use a guide, every game out there is complicated and has/needs one. if it doesn't need a guide, their crafting system is shite.

Loads of stuff to do, also complexity encourage ppl to ask in discord's, gen chat etc. in general interact with other players.
Can farm Refinements of Neira in deceit.... but I heard it can be dangerous.

The funny thing is after you read all that and do all that work you realize crafted armor and jewelry are crap.  Only 5 mods means it’s so crippled even loot from fan dancers is better.

I’m a 20+ year crafter.  I agree crafting is too complex and also worthless outside of weapons. The only reason weapons are worth crafting is only about 5 of the 30 or so weapons are ever used (so 85% of loot weapons are junk to start) and everyone is a sampire so all weapons need HML and HSL so if they don’t have those two mods to start they are worthless (90% of weapons) so monster loot weapons are less than 1% useful.

Crafting and armor mods need a complete revamp.  For starters tunics and imbuing needs at least 8 mods and a 300 point bump in intensity to even possibly challenge average loot.

I completely agree.
I'd find a way to bring in the missing properties into Imbuing, I'd tone down pvm loot, I'd give pvmers something else to hunt, as well as hunting for ingredients - but armour and weapons, should all belong to crafters.
I'd also add more to the BoD reward selection.
