Aggress All / Source of lag?

I read that in CC, it is/was possible to aggress all mobs on screen by opening your paperdoll twice in a row.  In EC, this doesn't work -- e.g. hitting "C" key twice in a row -- but it does cause visible rubber banding / resync lag, but not everytime.

I do see sampires immediately pulling screen full(s) of mobs to them, without any weapon swinging, no spell casting, and no apparent weapon strikes, also not wearing a cloak of corruption.  I've asked how these players are doing it, but they don't reply.

The above "aggress all" seems to happen almost instantly, and appears to cause significant lag.

Perhaps this ability should be removed (or added to EC), if it's a CC only thing.

The imbalance between now all three clients is indeed a serious issue.  but we as a stubborn player base are partly to blame as we hold a if you get rid of my client I quit mentally.  forcing the developers to maintain and develop more than they can handle

You can in EC. U have to be moving

Nope, in EC for me, opening the paperdoll twice in a row (while moving) only results in "visible rubber banding / resync lag".  That's whether I have a spellbook, weapon, barehanded, in or out of war mode.

That aside, if this is a source of lag for the server and other players, it should be fixed (to not cause lag and work in EC) or simply removed.  It wouldn't surprise me if a big source of server side lag results from people spamming this "aggress all" operation.

i do it all the time on my sampire, i just run around in a big circle spamming WW, till i have them at rounded up then i run into the middle of them and mow em down, remember animation for UO is stone age, even though im running and swinging my axe at same time there is no animation for it, so it looks like im just holding it.

It's some oddity about the classic client: when you are moving and spam the open paperdoll macro it redraws the screen. It's very useful because sometimes houses or other non-static items don't load in and you can use that to refresh the screen.

Yes, any hostile mobs in the area will agro you.

No, it's not what these armies of sampires are doing as they're not using the classic client.

They are all 3rd party client users. Attacking a monster doesn't count as an 'action' there's no limit to how fast you can attack stuff <- this would be what would cause lag if anything, spamming the servers with 'attack' x1000 per second x500 bot sampires on Atlantic.

Thanks for confirming my suspicion re: CC.

I'd be surprised if this wasn't a source of lag, whatever is behind the "mass aggro".

weird?  I use EC and I can aggro with paperdoll

So it would appear that the problem is with you somehow........

Are you using the CC (Legacy in the menu) paperdoll or the EC?

I won't talk much about the client thing because EC has tons of features that CC doesn't. I don't think any client should have functionality removed. If anything, all the clients should be brought up to par with each other so the only difference is the graphic.

For the record, there are many ways to grab spawn all around and there are many things that will make you rubber band; a warrior procking their hit spell will do it as well as when a spawn teleports onto you (this happens even as a ghost). The way I hit everything around me is basically what whitewolf said; I just mash the macro I made for attack nearest hostile while using whirlwind while also having hit area spell on my axe. That aggro's a bunch of stuff and then I walk another 5-10 tiles do the same and do that again and then walk back and start clearing everything aggro'ed. That said, it wouldn't surprise me if 3rd party clients have some sort of thing (whether built in or a script) that allows for seamless attacking (the UO macro for attack nearest hostile doesn't always recognize a hostile).

I think it's a well known thing that there are bots/scripters running these events so the no response thing isn't surprising BUT I will also say that if you try to ask me to explain something while I'm running a luck potion; I'm also not stopping to respond.

This is pretty straightforward, to repeat:

"if this is a source of lag for the server and other players, it should be fixed (to not cause lag and work in EC) or simply removed.  It wouldn't surprise me if a big source of server side lag results from people spamming this "aggress all" operation."
