I've spent an hour, on a fully mobile mounted thief looking for hidden chests in Yew.
I found 2...
I'm the only thief here.
This feels wrong, and a tad hard?
The land area is absolutely huge.

I found 52 in Skara, 27 in Moonglow, tons in Vesper - I can find chests.

Am I missing something?

{By the way, the whole concept, and playability of rogues on hidden chests, is a ton of fun, thank you, I can genuinely do this for 24 hours solid, and am trying to.... except I just fell asleep earlier 🙂 }

I'd just starting to write a post in the thread you were arguing in earlier that got locked. I began...

Here's what I know. I have a rogue character that hides and stealths to find the spawn chests that were added as content meant to engage the rogue class in this event. This content isn't functioning properly. You could say it's broken, depending on which town you're in when trying to reach this content.

For the purposes of this new thread I'll add, yes, things need work when it comes to where within the landscape the chests spawn. How many and how often new chests spawn within the invasion's cycle. And in some cases (Trinsic) it's not just how few chests there are, it's how the mobs are spawning right on top of the only two chests to be found in town. LOL! Trinsic has hot spots of a crazy amount of spawn with large numbers of paragons congregating around the only chests to be found. And the spawn seems glued to the spot unless someone runs by. Even then the ones stuck in planter boxes stay put.

That said, what needs even more work is the issue of rogue class characters having to compete with single players running a team of fighters and pseudo-rogues (yesterday's largest group I saw was six characters) who are going after the same content. And by "needs work" I mean, MAKE IT STOP!

Why did I or anyone else bother to train up (all to their max) Hiding, Stealth, Stealing, Snooping, Lock Picking, Detect Hidden, Remove Trap, Magery, and (when switching it up for maps) Cartography and Evaluate Intelligence, if a classic rogue build is made useless when going after content meant for them?

It's difficult for a true rogue build to compete with a single player that's mounted and fighting as well as going after chests. But at least there's a half decent opportunity to be in the right place at the right time where a fighter with lock picks isn't. And at least they're putting up more of a fair fight when it comes to dealing with mobs than the player controlling a chain of characters.

It's just about impossible for a rogue to compete against a whole team of mounted/flying sword fighters and throwers that are invincible to the spawn around them. They're just way too fast, they cover the ground of the city so quickly there's no way someone hidden and stealthing can find much for themselves other than a chest or two on the fringes.

To be able to control an entire squad of characters running full tilt and be able to detect a chest, spin on their heels and almost instantly pop and loot that chest while simultaneously fighting spawn, seems a little off to me. Meanwhile, the rogue who actually detected the chest first, and is squaring up on it when these crews run onto the screen, walks away empty handed.

If I played differently I would go ahead and let them do the work and try to grab from the chest first. I haven't done that. I can't bring myself to do that. I'd much rather this all worked in a way that makes sense and is in line with the intention, which was to offer rogues game content. Right now it doesn't makes sense to me at all.

Fair comment, I don't usually compete against other rogues, I usually prefer to play when no-one else is around. But anyway, if I'm finding it hard, and only finding 2 chests, there is an issue, yes, that is the point. In fact, I've barely used my rogue, used it solidly today.
(I did not say what I was doing, was difficult at all by the way - I was pointing out, Yew hidden chests, barely exist, I am fairly sure of that, unless someone tells me otherwise).
I don't think I have done Trinsic yet. But also, end of the day, if you can make the game easier on yourself, surely that is also the point?
If there were more players, I would let the players kill the spawn, but because the way things have gone, I bring bodyguards now. There are barely any players at any of the Invasions now. In Khaldun, I used the rogue solo, in ninja llama form, and avoided mobs etc etc. Not so feasible here, so I adapted.

From experience, I can say almost all the chests, as well as the majority of the enemy spawn, are contained in the North/Northwest part of Yew. Even knowing this though, they're few and far between. I personally opt for the tunnels when Yew is up. They're still fairly scarce down there, but its better than Yew.

Re Yew

It could have been such a fun place to explore for chests if chests could be found in areas around the Abby and the numerous farms and satellite buildings, as well as around the town itself.

Only place I’ve found chests were a few around the Court of Truth, just the one time. One in the little vineyard near the Abby, just the one time. And a couple randomly along a road I traveled.

I was told to explore the coast along the north and northeast which I’ve done many times. Never found a chest there. Or any evidence of one someone else found.

I went to a vendor on Atlantic that was located halway between the bank and the moongate. Someone was detecting the crates nearby. I saw at least two from where I was standing.

I didn't think to take a screenshot of the map until after I recalled out. And if you are doing Vesper, I saw a bunch outside the tailor shop above the city. I saw them when I was bribing bods.

This is my suit.
It has no Luck on it, it was always a pvm dungeon rogue, I used it for dungeon chests, I used to enjoy that, way before these events ever came out. It was that enjoyment, that prompted me to ask the Devs for hidden rogue content in several of my past posts.
I don't think luck has any impact, I'm not a believer in it in general.
I also do not run any Mastery, I am an elf, so get a slight racial bonus there.
I used to have Ninja Mastery - for Shadow Mastery and White Tiger Form, when I had 90 Ninja, but I do not anymore.
People often say I am a pvp thief - I am not, as I do not have 90 Real Ninja, or 90 Real Stealing, I am unable to have the mastery, or join the thief's guild to steal off players.
I use this rogue purely on hidden chests, or pvm stealing.

Congrats on the totem @Cookie

I still havent found a totem yet. I haven't really been counting the number of chests but I've done quite a bit.

There does seem to be a random "level" assigned to chests from what I've seen where sometimes I'll detect them first try (and not detecting within 2-3 tiles of the chest when it appears) and other times I'll basically fail a few times even though I'm detecting within 2 tiles. Then some I'll pick right away and others I'll fail a bunch before picking; and finally some have 3 traps versus 2. I'm wondering if the totems appear in the "top level" chest or if that's also RNG; I haven't seen a totem yet to tell whether that's the case or not.

I've run 3k+ luck suit (and hunted Fel) and 0 luck suit (hunting tram) without getting a totem and the event drops (Sanctum items) seem to drop about the same. Overall I do not think that in game luck property (high or low) impacts anything.

Kev, I've found the full set at this point and if I remember correctly I found them in various types of containers, from a large chest to a small crate, and with different levels of difficulty when it came to picking them open. I didn't find any in a chest that was double trapped.

Still no clue about how much luck matters if at all. I've worn a luck suit the whole time but others have said they've found totems with 0 luck.

I've no idea how many chests I've opened. I know I'd logged well over 100 hours popping chests open before I found the 1st totem. And probably twice that before I found the 4th.

Successfully using DH seems pretty random. I can target a tile, and the chest will pop up on that tile. I can target a tile and a chest will pop a number of tiles away. And there can be a number of attempts, targeting a tile right next to where it eventually pops that are unsuccessful attempts. Which is part of what makes it so strange to me that someone running can circle back around and pop a chest instantly. It's a mystery.

edit: I don't think I looked around the Yew moongate at all, @Cinderella. I don't really bother with Yew or Trinsic anymore.

@username Stop with the misinformation.. Mariah vouch for him on a personal level.. and like Cookie said again and again it's his teenagers that write all his scripts.. they getting real good at it and he's proud of them!!

I'm gonna address this situation (mariah entire message before shutting down the bot post) when I got the time to address it as it should be (gather all evidence and non sense leading to this personal level vouch from Mariah).. this is VERY alarming.. when a staff member vouch on a personal level for a well known cheater the way she did.. is VERY VERY alarming!!! Affiliates level alarming with the right to kill.
The dude kept digging his own grave and she came to save him and vouch for him on a personal level in a twisted way.

But in same time Cookie also told us he ONLY bot script his trapped box in PvP.. depending on him all the CC really need to be on par with EC is an auto scripted trapped box non macro PvP automation.. When can we trust a known liar tho?

PS: The way Mariah vouch for him on a personal level u can understand he ain't botting and those were his kids playing with him (even if she only saying they exist.. the way it was said u can understand.. trust Cookie the known liar/cheater)

Well done, I've been pushing hard, but still on the 1 drop only, I see a lot of thief's putting a lot of time in, and doing well. I feel like I'm unlucky on these events, I put the time and effort in, and others walk away with the items 🙂
