Champs and the "Score Board" - What is the purpose?

So, this scoreboard that pops up. What is the purpose? It seems completely useless. As you can see below, I got 1st, by 4 million points, got loot rights on Rikktor and got nothing. Not even a junk piece of armor.

What's the purpose of this score board? Anything? Just feels like taunting.

Might go to whatever goodie you're supposed to get for building a legacy with your character? I'd love more info on the end game here. I did hear today that we're supposed to see a list at some point of what we can bring back with us after the shattering. But in general what is the legacy we're building exactly? It's a mystery! To me anyway.
