Any tips for gathering leather?

Looking for suggestions from others as to the best way to collect leather. Right now I'm mostly killing cows, etc outside the West gate in Moonglow. My tailor is always in need.

What are others doing, like which area to farm leather and what are ya'll killing to get the most?

I hit all the Skara farms, Delucia and Jhelom farm to collect leather, wool and feathers. If I’m just going after feathers I go after the turkeys around Moonglow’s Lyceum.

I could kill Polar bears with my pets and you can skin those. Pets could use some skill gains.

As above, I see players killing things at skara fields.

Yes, Skara fields would be the best. Never thought of Jhelom.

What pets are used for killing the Polar bears, my mount (horse) isn't bonded yet so I will wait to try that out.

@Kalsey, this is might be obvious, but just to clarify, Pawain is saying he'll use his pets to kill the bears and you can skin them. Which you can do if you work together, partied. There's no way to skin the animals for leather and hand them to someone else.

Walrus's on Ice (Dagger) Island have 12 leather and you can one shot them with your crafter's sword.

I was able to kill Polar bears with my crafter at 80 swords. But it was not quick. Since my pets are bonded, I can kill them very fast with 2 drakes.

Yes, you can party with someone and skin what they kill.

In early beta, the Polar bears gave more leather than drakes, which are harder to kill.

Ok, no it wasn't obvious to me, thank you. I like that idea but need to hunt often because leather only goes to 2500 and it gets used fast. So I was checking to see what others are doing. Thank you!

I've been killing cows and goats mostly because they go down fast, I know they don't produce the most leather, but much quicker so I believe I win on that theory. Going to use the fields you suggested.

@ZekeTerra thanks! I'll be looking at Walrus now too. My thought is the faster the spawns dies the more leather. Hope that's what others are finding.

During beta, dragons and drakes had less leather than a Polar bear. They adjusted it I think.

Any can holler in chat. I have many pets that need skilled. Allen or this name. You hear me when I'm on.

I use two accounts at the same time. My Disco/Tamer/Mage kills WWs, and my crafter skins them. 100 Leather/50 Bones per WW. Nightmares also give 100 Leather i heard. Platinum/Crimson Drakes give 50 Leather per, and there's a good static spawn point for them in Destard.

I also fully skill trained a Giant Beetle for my crafter, so he can use his Beetle along with his Surpassingly Accurate Axe of Might to kill stuff like Cows and Bears if he's not paired with my Tamer.

True I gave mine a Beetle and skilled it on a shadow ele. But I mined at the mountain outside trinsic. Shinned on ice. Nothing bad at those you can't out run on bug.
