Currently the octopus necklaces can't be used for cleanup points, nor can they be imbued with stats.
Might I suggest creating a use for them? Maybe a protection from Osiredon's leeches or a bonus to fishing up special items? They should wear out after a certain ammount of uses or after a certain ammount of time.
As they spawn in multiple gem variations, you could fiddle with those uses, for example you could make the diamond octopus necklaces have the most uses, it being the hardest material.
Or assign them cleanup points like other treasure map items like the runed sash of warding or the surge shield. That'd be fine too.
Or alter them so that they can be tossed in deep water like salvage
hooks or special fishing nets, summoning a group of 1 to 6 krakens or something.
Just figure out a use for them.
