Can someone explain the difference between these two vanilla plants?  One shows as "a vibrant peculiar vanilla" and the other as "a vibrant plain vanilla."

They appear the same to me.

Thank you.

That would be my guess also. ^

Check to see if they both produce resources.

They will both produce both resources and seeds 😂

I do not think they will produce resources if they are the result of cross pollination.  I could be wrong thou.

Ah, thank you!  That makes sense.

the vanilla plants that are colored don't give vanilla when harvested.
and it doesn't matter if it is plain or peculiar vanilla
both will give vanilla when it is harvested.
(it is only when they are blue, red or yellow that doesn't give vanilla)

Okay - I have an additional question.  Yesterday was day 8 for my plants and the plant gump did not allow me to cross-pollinate.  This morning, I log in and try to cross-pollinate and get a message that "This plant has already been pollinated."

I am using the raised planters and did not have this problem last time I grew plants (within the last few months).  What am I doing wrong?  Thank you.

I always do that on day 7
because If i try on day 8 or 9
it doesn't let me do it

I'm thinking maybe because it is too close to the time it was planted
meaning it is almost time for it to age & it doesn't recognize the time
so it doesn't allow it

I've been helping my husband to cross pollinate
I think since last summer
he is wanting seeds from every plant
and I have had this happen several times

I think you can only cross pollinate from days 5-7 if I remember right

Yes day 8 is too late.

I'll try another round - I was not able to do anything on days 5 - 7 this time - not sure, who knows.  At least, I will have lots of extra seeds, haha.

Having cross pollinated 178 plants this Saturday morning I can say that cross pollination is possible on days 7,8, and 9. Can't be sooner than 7 because the plant has not grown far enough. I plant seeds Saturday mornings and the following Saturday is when they can start to be cross pollinated. I have Sunday and Monday to cross pollinate if I did not do it on Saturday. Tuesday after server up the plants can no longer be cross pollinated even thou the gump says day 9.

On the plus side of doing so many cross pollinations this Saturday is I got 4 plants that will have black seeds and 2 plants that will have white seeds.
